The Rays are such a paper tiger. Even when we throw up all over ourselves, we still beat them. Boone needs to really push for the 1 seed. The only team I’m worried about is Houston and they don’t play us well in NY. Get the 1 seed, hope Minny holds them off, take care of business against the WC winner and go from there

LOL@ idiot managers. After a walk to Gardner to open the 8th inning, Cash brings in Drake who strikes out the next 3 batter and then gets LeMahieu and Judge out for the first two outs of the 9th. The guy is cruising, tearing through the order. Then stupidity reared its head in the form of the moron manager who calls for the Lefty Poche to get the last out against the switch hitting Aaron Hicks. This was not a lefty/lefty move and Poche is not Aroldis Chapman. He isn't even Brad Hand. In fact, he has never had a major league save and Tampa has already dropped the 1st two games to the Yankees. Go ahead, guess what happens next. LOL@ dumb ass managers.

I get what they were doing. Hicks has been abysmal vs lefties this year. That being said, I’m gonna lay this one on Boone and I really am dumbfounded by his lackadaisical approach to games vs the Sox and Rays. Yes, were up 10 in the L column. Make it 11 and step on the neck. CC going 7 innings is stupid. He’s a 5 inning pitcher. Maybe you give him 6. If he’s rolling and you’re up big, he can go 7. Not in a 1 run game and especially not after he puts a batter on. This game should have been 3-1 Yanks. Instead we need a heroic homer in the 9th then Green leaves one up

The stupidity of the managers canceled each other out in this game.

And we are starting Breyvic Valera against the team chasing up. Wtf?
Don't worry. No matter what s*** Boone throws out there this season, it has flushed. It's been one of those years for your team when even managerial and player blunders look like genius after another win. Edited by a700hitter

We are resting the three offensive players heading to the ASG. Sanchez is the DH, Torres and DJ are sitting. We are facing the AL ERA leader. Why?

Clearly WTF management!

It drive me nutty. He rests guys against the wrong teams. Why rest players going into the ASG. They’re barely gonna practice and all of them will get two AB’s tops. Why rest players vs TB and Boston? Go after those clubs and step on the neck. Rest vs Toronto or Baltimore or against half the other AL squads

The Sox do the same thing . I think a lot of teams do . Pretty sure the managers are being " strongly advised " to do this by the front offices . Apparently analytics have shown it benefits the players .

Then rest them vs the bums

I am not one to criticize Cora a lot, and I certainly understand resting players, but I still don't understand the why he insists on resting 2-3 regular starters the same game. The other day, he rested Bogaerts and JD the same game. We won the game, but still. It seems like he could spread out the rest days so that no more than one starter sits in any particular game.

I’ve never understood it. Especially with the depth we have, there’s no reason to sit two infielders at the same time. With Encarnacion, Lemahieu, Torres, Gregorius and Urshela, he can sit or DH a guy per game. When Voit returns, he can do it even more and when Stanton returns, it’ll be crazy who he can rest. No need to sit them the game before the ASB vs the team that is chasing us

These rest days should be planned out a little better in my opinion. With the ASB coming up and trying to take the series from our closest competitor in the standings you'd think everyone would be available. The difference between a win/loss is 2 games in the standings. Who knows how things would have played out, but one would think having LaMahieu and Torres in the lineup yesterday would have significantly increased our chances of scoring more than one run.

German comes back from the IL looking like the guy fro April and May. His stuff is sick. 2 seamer, circle change and slider was deadly yesterday. 1 run in 12 innings in his last 2 outings. If he can continue, he, Tanaka and Paxton would form a pretty tough top 3 come PO time. We need a 4th guy. Maybe that’s Sevy? Maybe it’s someone else. But German has been nails

This team does it again. Urshela with a two run single then some fancy footwork on his slide to steal the GW run. Tanaka threw well. Really only one bad pitch. The second HR was a 89mph exit velo HR over the short porch in RF on a ball that was designed to be out of the zone. Tip the cap and move on.
