Continue to criticize? You do realize that you are the one who started it all back up by asking about Logan Allen…

It's not my fault that Logan Allen flopped. As you have said many times , many ways ; " These GMs and managers know a lot more than we do. " In this case , Dombrowski knew more than you . The trade worked out very well. Don't be mad about it. Have a nice day.

Then you agree with my simple point, which is that it wasn't a "double whammy". We overpaid in prospect capital, but it was a good contract.

The point was always it was a good free agent contract not a trade for contract.

As the years went on it became a good contract, as in under top FA contract money.

It was a good contract at the time. Only two years guaranteed, with a third at our option.

Even if you look backward to compare to Papelbon's deal, it was a guaranteed amount of less than half of that.

Oh lovely hypocrisy. Apparently no one is allowed to criticize the deal, but dgalehouse is allowed to defend it indefinitely and without provocation…

Leave it to Sox fans to be still getting all worked up over a trade for a reliever that happened in 2016. Then again, they never stop lamenting about a trade for a reliever in 1990.

Sox fans still lament a trade from 1919…

What's sort of interesting is that Sox fans don't say much about trading Rizzo. They seem to accept that one, even though AGon didn't really succeed here.

It seemed more of a fair deal at the time.

I didn’t like that deal either. I think I was the only one on BDC who wanted Beltre over AGon…

Technically, that was a sale, which made it even worse.

One of many awful sales and trades between the Sox and Yankees in just a few years. Frazee basically handed them Ruth, Hall of Famer Herb Pennock, Should-Be Hall of Famer Carl Mays, and two other good pitchers in Sad Sam Jones and Bullet Joe Bush. Basically handed the Yankees the best pitching staff of the 1920’s and in return got to put on a s***** play and plunge his team into nearly nine decades of frustration…

Yes, I'm one of the people who actually read The C**** of the Bambino back in the Nineties. I was convinced we would never win anything after reading it LOL

Most everybody liked or loved the trade at the time, so maybe that was part of the limited hindsight analysis.

Here I was hoping we might wrap up taking about the Mookie trade, yet Kimberly, AGon and even the Ruth trades are still on the table.

You’re not supposed to actually read Dan Shaughnessy…

Yeah, I know. But that was kind of a must read for a tortured Sox fan. Dan cashed in on the 'c****' thing, but man, there really was some frightening history.

The thing I realized for the first time was the parallels between the 1946-1949 seasons, and the 1975-1978 seasons.
