No, but he could be lying to make excuses for his poor performance.

And as was stated above, did they only force him to throw sliders at home? His splits were horrendous.

They might have insisted he throw more sliders at home to help keep the ball in that little bandbox...

Lol 100% accurate? Based on what?

And I guess Yankees stadium doesn't count as a MLB ballpark since there's no giant backboard covering 40% of the outfield.

If I were the Cashman, I’d start extension talks with Judge. We have him for four more seasons and he will have his first FA season when he turns 31. Not exactly an enticing FA market for an older player. Plus, Judge is in pre arb for one more year, so we could bargain against that small sum. If we announce after the start of the season, the AAV hit doesn’t start til 2020, so it’s not a problem lux tax wise for 2019. I’d give him a nice signing bonus so he gets some cash in 2019. But something like a 4 year deal with an option would be really good for him (which would add 2 years of control if 2019 isn’t touched). The FA years would have to be bought out rather highly, I’d say a 4 yr $60 mil deal starting in 2020 with a $25 mil team option for a 5th year

Cashman probably has. Judge should pass hard on 4/$60. His 3 arb years alone are likely to net him close to $60mill....

Also, why only buy out the arb years? If the Yankees at least went 5/$90mill, they could delay his free agency with an offer he shouldn’t refuse and it could be signed today...

Now that guys are making $20M+ in arbitrations, it'd be really foolish for him to take that.

A guy on the Yankee forum thinks all the cutters showing up there were actually sliders. Look at the decline in fastballs. Pretty sure Gray isn't lying just for the sake of trashing the Yankees.

I don't have enough tin foil on me today to worry about this further. I think Gray is just making up excuses.

The cutter is 10 mph faster than his slider per fangraphs. Also, based on fangraphs pitch value, his best pitch was.... his slider.

I guess they told him to throw a lot more cutters then, and he misremembered. It just shows how messed up he was about being in pinstripes.

Does he even throw a cutter? The pitch type information on fangraphs seems like it could be kind of wonky. Maybe it's listing 4 seamers as cutters? It seems unlikely that he'd drop 20% on his 4 seamer. Honestly, I don't watch enough Yankees games to know.

LOL, it always cracks me up when sox fans call out Yankee Stadium and forget about the dimensions of the s*** hole their team plays in.

The only thing that really sucks about Yankee stadium is the empty movie theater seats that make up the front few rows.

The All Rise stuff is hokey AF too.

Yankees stadium allows way more “cheap” HR’s then Fenway. It’s not even close. But you can go by square footage of OF if that makes you feel better about yankees stadium being called a bandbox. The number of

All the HRs could be because the Yankee pitchers suck.

One thing to come out of Yankee camp is that they will not platoon 1b. Lemahieu is the backup for 3 infield positions with Gleyber having the ability to slide to SS in case of a Tulo injury. With that being said, either Voit or Bird will make the team. Both are having good spring's, but unless someone gets hurt, I would assume it is Voit's job to lose.

Amazing how they still out draw the sox every year.

Maybe they should fudge the numbers like the sox do.....

Also for reference, check out whose outfield dimensions are smallest in MLB. Gasp!!

https://community.fangraphs.com/complete-outfield-dimensions/

Of course, there is another dimension called height. :)

The Monster is close but tall. Yankee Stadium right field fence is close and not tall, it's a real porch. Even Christian Vazquez can hit an opposite field home run into it. :D

Strange to think that the Red Sox and Yankees match up pretty well for a trade. The Yankees could use a starter, e.g., Brian Johnson, and the Red Sox could use a reliever. With that said, I doubt the two teams agree on a deal.

The Red Sox could use D.Betances, but I've heard that his velocity is down, kind of like B.Workman.

Severino to be miss at least April, terrible news

The only good thing is that Cessa is looking great (I know is only ST), but the guy has great stuff, mid 90's FB, a good slider and decent curveball, I always thought he was a minor adjustment away of becoming a regular ML pitcher, I hope he finally turns the corner and helps the Yankees this year, it's a "make or break" opportunity for him.

I don't read much into the ST stuff. I will say this is one start behind my predicted date of return of April 25. It isn't "terrible news" as there have been no setbacks and he hasn't even started tossing yet, but they're being cautious with him. I think Cash is fully aware that we are as close to a playoff lock as one could be and having a healthy Sevy is very important to our post season success

Neither am I, I'm not talking about his ST numbers which can be misleading based on the competition, I'm just saying that his stuff is playing out good so far and he will have a month to show some results as SP, if not he might be sent to the BP for good
