Here we go, a critical game mid point of this series. Porcello looks to step on those cheats throats. A win and tomorrow with the chance to end things right here in Houston.

There's nobody on that staff I'd rather have going tonight. Not even Chris Sale - given the Sale's current iteration.

My Lineup:

Betts RF

Benintendi LF

Martinez DH

Bogaerts SS

Devers 3b

Pearce 1b

Holt 2b

Vazquez C

Bradley CF

I'll be pissed if Kinsler and/or Nunez are in the lineup tonight against the righty. I would play Moreland over Pearce, but I'm assuming Moreland isn't healthy enough to start.

Also as much s*** as I give Kimbrel for his heart attack closers. I’ll take him over what the woman beater did last night. Sox lineup made him look silly. Just a fun thought. Anyway go Sox. Take an early lead and don’t look back!

How do yall feel about charlie morton?

All I really know is he hasn't pitched since September 30. That's a seriously long layoff.

+ he only threw a few innings in that 30-Sep start.

we have an opportunity to ambush him tonight.

I don't know much about him, but looking at his numbers the thing that jumps out is his 1st/2nd/3rd time through order splits.

.498/.713/.821 ops against

Just about the best in baseball 1st time through, but gets bad fast. Don't know why this guy would be a starter.

We'll probably see a lot of the Houston bullpen tonight.

Morton hasn't pitched well, last 2 Months. PUT the Hammer down, don't give them any Life. Win tonight, Verlander might choke too.

AJ made two mistakes over the same decision. Not only did he determine that he could trust Osuna for 6 outs, he told the world and thus Osuna that he would use him for 6 outs.

IMO, even if your intention is to use him for 6 outs, you want him giving everything he has to the inning he has been brought in to pitch and then judge for yourself if he has anything left for another inning. I am not sure it mattered because Osuna was already blowing the inning he was brought into. Lesson to AJ, don't even think about it again!

AJ IMO has not had a good series. He is yet to come up with a means to protect Bregman in the order. That has been a series long problem. Last night, he was the Manager that left himself an inning short in the pen which is another mistake in having lifted DK one inning early without a real plan that did not involve using Osuna for 6 outs.

I expect to see Gonzalez hitting behind Breg tonight because what choice does AJ have? What he has is not working. Gonzalez may not scare anybody either. But he might hit. Gurriel isn't and Correa isn't. The Astros have some nice fill-in players on their bench but nobody that can move behind Bergman in the order.

The amazing thing about this postseason so far is that the Sox have played only 100 game winners--Yankees and Astros--and have won 4 of 6. In fact, if memory serves, both the Yankees and Astros were heavily favored to beat the Sox.

The pitching has not been great, but it has been good enough. Same goes for the hitting, especially if you discount the 16-1 thrashing of the Yankees in game 3 of the ALDS. Last night was a highly contested 3-2 game until the 8th when Osuna took a walk on the wild side. Maybe he was studying Kimbrel to get that motion just wrong.

I'm not sure Morton will bomb tonight, but think the Sox will continue to be a tough team to beat and a good bet to win tonight.

All Boston from here on. The series may not get back to Fenway. Wonder if Hinch still has any faith in that gutless stiff Osuna. As I have said repeatedly, the Red Sox are the better team. No doubt about it.

The Yankees weren't favored.

I think the Astros will improve tonight on what they did last night, so I'm predicting a score of 8-3 (Sox win) instead. I don't think the Astros outside of Verlander can keep the Sox offense down.

(Which, by the way, makes you realize just how good Verlander is.)

This is the lineup that should be in there every night,

Vegas odds had Boston favoured but it seemed the world thought the Yankees would beat us. And yes I agree. Playing 7 difficult games and to win 5 of those 7 is amazing!

I think Evan Drellich was one of the guys who said the Yankees were the favorites to win. I can't take that guy seriously at all.

Mickey Mantles number is pretty amazing considering they only played 1 postseason series each year.

3 World Series visits.

4 HR's

10 RsBI

13 Ks

8 BBs

16 Hs

15 Gs

Devers has almost matched that mark in fewer games (8).

True, but Devers has yet to reach the World Series.

I am incredibly happy with this 8:40 start as I don’t get off until 8:30. MLB playoff schedule makers have been blessing me with scheduling these games around my work schedule.

Later start time helps me not miss half the game due to putting the kids to bed and working out. This will be a late night though. Extra coffee tomorrow.

I can not stay up for this one no matter what is going on. Tomorrow's a 6:30 wake up call, and I've already been missing out on sleep this week.
