Sale has given up, what, 1 single? His problem has been control and now pitch count. He threw twice as many pitches in the first 3 innings as Verlander and will do very well to go 5 tonight. Verlander could go 9.

Yup.

This is extremely frustrating because Sale hasn't really been hit hard, he struggled with command early, and Nunez did him no favors (IDC what anyone says, an MLB 3B should make that play).

Wasn't even near him? Are you even watching the game? Lou Merloni just tweeted out that Nunez should have made the play.

Nunez probably should have been able to knock it down. But its hard to "knock down" a rocket when you are trying to catch it. At some point Nunez needs to be realistic about what he actually represents as a 3rd baseman. He will never bring back memories of Brooks Robinson or even my next door neighbor growing up, Charlie Robinson.

So considerate of Chris Sale to show up in the 4th inning tonight. Now I trust we need to wait until the 8th for our hitters to do so. Typical Sox game. Starter gives up early runs, hitters can't get going until 3rd time through

And yet they're 111-55. Crazy game huh?

Yeah, he had to range a little. Bregman didn't

Sorry, he had to take a step, I shouldn't expect that of an MLB 3B... but then again, I am not sure Nunez is an MLB 3B.

My point was simply that it wasn't the same play, and expecting him to make it as easily as Bregman did was unfair

The crowd at Fenway is doing the Sox no favors. Not loud at all. Front runners. Make some noise.

Did you not see them in the top of the 4th?

Bregmans play was definitely easier, but Nunez still should've made his. I just don't get what Nunez really brings, he's shaky in the field and doesn't hit.

There is never an exact play. But an adequate 3bman makes the play. It’s pretty easy stuff actually

He had an excellent Game 4 against the Yanks did he not?

He was really solid 2 seasons again with San Fran. But hasn’t been the same player this year

Nunez has been much better going right or coming in than he has been going left or glove side. In fact the same can be said for Devers only he is at this point about hopeless going left. Both have been better at reaction plays going right and have been better coming in. Neither is worth snot to their glove sides.

X has bailed both out by covering much more of the territory to his own throwing hand side or this would have looked much uglier all season long.

Sale looks like dog s*** yet he’s gutted out 4 without giving up a huge inning. Verlander looks ridiculous, but that’s his MO. Sale might need to be pulled here

Ummmm. Sale looked really good last inning. But yes he’s been off for most of the night.
