The big difference between last year's team and this year's team is J.D. Martinez.
Not regression? LOL!! we added a wrecking ball -- a top 5 offensive player-- to our lineup. It wasn't regression or a change of approach as suggested by our .240 lifetime hitting manager (love the guy to death).

Apparently you haven't noticed J.D. Martinez. Mookie may win but J.D. is equally deserving with his monster year and potential Triple Crown.

JD has had a great year...but I just do not think you can take MVP from Mookie for his defense, his baserunning, his hitting...his total contribution is simply unmatched IMO. Plus its Mookies team. Its not JD's team.

Cora would be the second biggest difference, IMO. He has had a magical first year.

Cora would be AL MOY were it not for Cash.

Sox: 11 more wins than they had last year

Devil Rays: 5 more wins than they had last year

f*** Kevin Cash

I never get tired of seeing a Red Sox team celebrating in the locker room spraying champagne all over each other. I just hope the Yankee Stadium custodians are going to be able to clean it all up.

I love Mookie and if he wins the MVP I will be happy but the Sox whole offensive approach and confidence changed this year with having J.D. hitting 3rd and 4th and hitting 40+ Hrs and driving in 124 RBIs. He also leads the majors in average with runners in scoring position I believe. He has been the difference. Mookie is also great but we are talking MVP.

Cora is deserving on MOY, 104 wins, are you shutting him outtt?? f*** voters.

I suspect all the votes will go to Cash and Cora. But Cash has worked a miracle with that team and I expect him to eek it out over Cora. After all, Cora will have the MVP and the second highest vote getter for MVP on HIS team. He might even have the Cy Young on his team though I think it will be hard to keep the Cy from Snell.

How is it a miracle? The Sox gained more wins over last year than the Rays did. I guess we should grade on a scale since Cash plays in front of nobody 82 games a year?

Mookie is the straw that stirs the drink here, on the team with the best record in baseball. I don't believe pure offensive stats should outweigh the total contribution of a player to his team. I also do not think anybody will break the top two of our top two for MVP voting. Everybody else is running for 3rd.

Cash took a team with close to nothing other than Snell and a relief staff that he built and has them in the running for a post season slot. Cash had to manage a bullpen game 2 games out of every 4 for a whole season. Cora has the two guys that will be the two top MVP voter getters in the league and a very good rotation for the bulk of the year.

Finally, the lineup asserted itself after two abysmal games. ERod,like Price the night before, demonstrated how tough the Yankees lineup can be on lefties--aided this time by Hembree's hanging slider that Stanton poked over the RF wall.

Wright was great, but the rest of the bullpen continues to be worrisome except for Zimbrel. Brasier did OK last night, but I thought got away with some really fat pitches, maybe because Wright had messed up the Yankee hitters timing. Tonight the Sox start 3 at Cleveland against another postseason opponent that, like the Yankees, has good hitting and decent pitching. I don't see Wright going 3 more tonight.

I agree.

JD wins the Silver Slugger Award.

His GM also traded some of his best players right out from under Cash's nose during this season!

Cora changed Mookie, that is always loudly broadcast in games. Plus 104 and counting. Cora should be a slammed dunk MOY.

I think it's going to be a close race, hardly a slam dunk.
