He s*** the bed tonight.

In the 8th inning he tried to spark the inning sending Benny —trying to win I guess. In the 9th you have 2 men on base with one out, Kinsler was lost all night, Britton panicked, and you have the best hitter of the game to come in and you don’t send him? If Mookie is ok, It’s unacceptable.

You guys are funny. You’re magic number for the division is 2, and for the 1 seed is 4. There are 11 games to go. I know you guys like the idea of Cora sticking it to NY, but if Betts has even a thought of a twinge in his side, then you sit him. If Cora has a dream that a player gets hurt the night before, he sits them. It’s just the way it goes. Your regular season was a wild success. Now it must be full on playoff mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cora limits Price tonight and throws a bunch of s*** bags after him. No need to give the Yanks looks. Also, that final series in Boston is going to have no matter at all to the Sox. I wouldn’t be surprised if Neck Tat, Wright and Cuevas starts. It literally doesn’t matter

The amount of bitching in this thread about Betts not playing is beyond belief.

I think some of the game thread regulars will still be ragging on Cora for resting guys after we clinch.

Exactly, and it's why I seldom participate now. Too much bitching. Too may posters want to win every game. OTOH Cora wants to win the WSC. I like Cora's approach better.

Our minor league team almost beat the skanks tonight.

Relax, guys.

That's cute, except it wasn't your minor league team and it was the Yanks who almost beat the Yanks last night.

Yep. As I posted earlier, good teams find a way to win and bad teams find a way to lose. The Yankees tried to lose that game but came up short.

This is just wrong. Even Yankee fans don't deserve to see how good Castiglione is and then have to go back to John Sterling! Ughhhh.

The good news is that we only have to put up with Sterling for one inning.

If one were to only go by the game thread, one would think Cora is in danger of being fired, if the Sox don't clinch the division in this series.

Yes, the game thread regs are very demanding fellows.

While they haven't been playing well at all, I would hardly consider a team with 92 wins a "bad" team.

Eovaldi is like our 9th starter we tried this year.

No Betts.

No Moreland.

No Beni (until late).

No Devers.

Cuevas, Lin & Travis in the 9th.

Smells like the minors.

Tastes like the minors.

Opponent as good as the minors.

Interesting. A guy who is odds on to be the AL Manager of the Year is a moron or a liar. Well, you gotta give Cora a lot of credit for basically fooling all of the people all of the time: the players, the FO, owner, fans, commentators. Thank goodness for these game threads so we can get the real scoop.

So, kinsler, martinez, bogie, nunez, holt, vasquez and bradley are minor leaguers?

And eovaldi is hardly a minor leaguer, he may have been down on the depth chart, but he's probably one of your top 5 starters at this point.

Nice spin though........

Devers didn't play when we swept them from Aug.2-Aug.6 . Eovaldi there then and had a hell of a game then. Basically just Betts was missing. Phillips was in because he hit Happ good before this, it didn't work out. He's not a Minor Leaguer, compared to kid like Lin or Travis. BP blew it that's that. Edited by OH FOY!

I enjoyed last night's game because I didn't expect Eovaldi to do too much. Too bad about the bullpen, but Brasier hung that slider to the wrong guy at the wrong time. Workman didn't help much either.

Hope David kicks ass tonight and ends it, be perfect after the game he had in Yankee Stadium, a few Months back.

Just Do IT! David.

I think we just missed two key pieces moon —huge assets—, and probably with them on the field we could have won.

Said that, it’s not like we sent the line up we used in the 3rd game of the series in Atlanta.

Good or bad is a matter of comparison. When a team is ~10 games back of the leader they're bad in comparison.
