Drew Pomeranz and it’s not even close.

Devers. Pomeranz was always sketchy.

Devers is expected to do big things, especially when the previous season he showed up as a 20 year old and put a hurting on other teams, namely the Yankees. His 2018 season is a failure.

He didn't do all that well for us year one in Boston.

He was great in SD before coming here: 2.47 ERA /1.059 WHIP, but so-so with us: 4.59/ 1.369.

He's had 1 good year out of 2.5.

Pomeranz having a terrific season in SD was never a great indicator ... (very pitcher friendly). But he was young, controllable and had some projection. But the command has failed him mostly.

NARRATOR: He's STILL expected to do big things.

True about SD, but the park does not make up that much of a differential between the two 2016 numbers.

My point was, he was not all that good for us in 2016, so he's basically done well in just 1 of 2.5 seasons with us.

People can say what they want about the injured Espinoza, but Pom has not been a big plus for us, and if we win this year, it won't be because of that trade in any way.

Yes, and if anyone expected big things this year, that's not on Devers.

Sure, I had hoped for better offense, but "expecting" a kid his age to improve over a pretty small sample size in 2017 is more of an issue than how Devers has done.

I expected a learning curve and even warned fans to expect it. The warning was focused more on his defense, but in that area, he seems to have improved a little bit.

I'm still expecting great things from Devers. It may still take another year or two, but he will get "there."

Again, .254 27 86 in his first 688 PAs is pretty damn good!

I see on TV Pedroia was working with him on his footwork, went to last 2 PawSox games and Phillips was working with him on his footwork before both games. When Vets see a problem with this, so do I. Hope it doesn't cost us in Play-offs. When Devers is going to Left Field, his swing is on. For some reason this year he is pulling the ball more than I saw in the Minors last year. Probably reason why average is down. Edited by OH FOY!

Devers is a .280-.300 hitter with Power to all fields, I think this new philosophy of swinging has hurt him this year. Hope he reverts back to his old way.

He has shown he can conquer every level - even after struggling early (like he did in Salem and Greenville). Bellhorn had the right perspective year. It has been a little disappointing but in no way discouraging.

I agree, if I were a sox fan I would not be discouraged, I think the kid has a bright future.

Whether that is at 3rd base remains to be seen.

I think that is possible - although that is as much because 3B is the org's strongest position as anything else.

Biggest disappointment: THEY DIDN'T WIN 162 GAMES!!!! WTH CORA AND BULLPEN?!?!?!?

To quote one of our game thread stalwarts, our manager is 'Corable'.

Rafaael Devers up to .738 OPS, 21 HRs, 66 RBIs ... again a mild disappointment, but the OPS is pretty good considering he was batting .243 (since SLG and OBP are related) He ups his walk rate a little bit, and gets up to .260 or better and there is a hell of a player there.
