If the Sox hang on to this lead, and I have no reason to believe they won't, they'll reach 90 wins before any other team reaches 80. The Yankees could reach 80 if they win tonight, but the Astros still need three more games, by which time the Sox will likely have won at least 2 more.

It's like the Guardians are trying really hard to give up a grand slam. "Maybe if we keep intentionally walking guys in front of other guys who are basically as good as they are, someone will eventually hit a home run!

So I'm looking at this lineup just destroy what seemed to be excellent Cleveland pitching, and I'm thinking what must be going thru Francona's mind. What was that famous line from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? "Who are those guys, anyway?" Well, in a huge gamble by Cora, one of them is his backup catcher now playing first base with 2 hits and 2 rbi's.

 

On top of all that, Price is just gangbusters.

 

Or how about the line attributed to the British commander at Yorktown when he had to surrender to the Continental Army (GW and the guys) in October 1781? The World Turned Upside down.

 

The above was of course written by someone who two days was ready to throw in the towel.

Swihart was held on to as the backup to the backup plan..and of course, he's worked out well enough in his spots. Every Sox contributes something it seems...offense, defense, with Holt-dugout fun, baserunning, etc.

Good s*** from price today. I haven’t been his biggest supporter but he’s making me eat crow. Hopefully he can pitch like this in the playoffs.
