The importance of sweeping teams like the O's is because it gives the SOX some cushion when they have to play good teams. The Yankems' poor record against the O's is the main reason the SOX enjoy a big lead.

Really? Stats are for geeks. Do you really trust this guy in a big spot when the game’s tie or close? I wanna know by how many runs the Sox where winning by when he came in and had a clean inning.

Really an awful appearance by Barnes. Two hits a wild pitch and a walk all leading to a run and could have been much worse. What is going on with the BP. Hembree is beyond awful these days and neither Barnes nor Kimbrel seems to have the dominance they had earlier and now Thornburg was bad. Isn't there something the pitching coach can do?

Great, the Sox have been in 46 games since June 17th. If Barnes has to make consecutive late game appearances and has to do it more than once under post season pressure, would you bank you post on him? I wouldn't...not on a bet. But I might have more confidence in him if he is truly pressed going into the latter part of this season and performs.

It's crunch time over the past month and they don't respond well. They just fall flat when tested. Hembree is rattled by pressure, Barnes as well. Kimbrel is unable to pitch a inning+.

I wonder if E-Rod comes back similar to Price last year. He is throwing, but he hasn't built up his innings. We are 7 weeks from the playoffs. If he is to get back to being a starter, he would need to be ready to pitch within the next 4 weeks to give him 3 weeks to build up to 100 pitches again

What was it about Barnes's inning that could use improvement. Not much, he only got beat to first on a bouncer, gave up another hit, walked one and held the lead, using only 20 pitches. Quality job, Matt
