In defense of our BP, it's tough to stay rested when the last 3 starters pitched a total of 14 innings.

Onew more thing. Who gets the win?

The Sox are a great team and yet no one on this board, including me, has any faith in any pitcher to pitch the 7th and 8th innings of a close playoff game.

Barnes has been pretty reliable; so has Brasier. Thornburg lately has been very good as well. No pitcher gets the job done EVERY time out there. I think this pen is good enough to compete for a ring, especially when you combine it with the SP and the offense we have.

Well we will see if they can get it done this October. We saw what happened last year with a chance to send it to a 5th game.

Once E-Rod is back, we will have Braiser, Johnson, Hector, Pom and a couple more kind of reliable —Barnes and Thornburg. The only guys I’d cut for once and for all are Hembree and Kelly.

Tonight's game is yet another example that in this league as currently constructed, Cora is effectively right in managing around the idea that virtually nobody we play can pitch their way out of a paper bag. Ergo....he can run with his starters longer than we might like as fans or that we are used to. But in truth the thing we are not used to is what an utter s*** league this is most particularly as it relates to pitching.

That is certainly no guarantees in October when we will face better pitching every night than we sometimes face in a month in this league. But there is really no questioning Cora's tactics in the regular season. Whether our pen survives post season play will mostly depend on our starters, much like the Astros formula for success.

Hembree has not been consistently good, but overall I think he has been OK; I believe Kelly will find his groove again.

Does anyone other than me get the idea that O'B & Lyons aren't exactly great friends?

I hadn’t noticed. This will need further observation.

Like I said the other night, they really do not like each other at all and frankly almost came to blows in what was yet another of those NESN moments when the production staff SHOULD NOT have taken the cameras into the booth. It was not pretty and I expected that night that Lyons was going to put his fist right through OB's face. I mean it was really bad and once the NESN cameras were in the booth and it was happening live the production crew just did not know what to do about it.

The Astros' starting pitching is downright scary. The SOX offense is downright scary. If they meet in the post-season, it will be interesting to say the least.

Whata night for the O’s rookie. What an expirience for him and his parents in the stands. Kid showing good skills.

I think its just you. Actually, there is a good chance they are not great friends since they haven't done that many games together. That doesn't mean they can't work together. I haven't heard either say anything to indicate they don't like each other.
