So because you are a flaming liberal and Clint is a conservative he is a DB. I see. Typical.

To be fair, the man did use his movie star fame to run for mayor of a city just so he could change some parking regulations at his restaurant. That's really not all that cool...

Once upon a time the ASG was played as a matter of pride by the players to prove their league was better than the other. The gams was played seriously and was good entertainment because it was played seriously. Now we've come to a time where that pride of league pretty much doesn't exist and the game is almost played with the seriousness of the celebrity softball game. Just a gathering of super rich people getting together for a pick-up ballgame. Unfortunately, if one wants the game to be played seriously now, money has to be involved. Perhaps if the players on the winning team each receives half a million dollars and the players on the losing team get nothing, the game would probably be played with more seriousness. That's me definitely being cynical, but I really believe it, seriously.

I was there for your "once upon a time" and agree they did play hard and did try to win just to show they could. It was in an ASG that Carl Hubbell struck out Murderer's Row and later when Ted Williams hit a key home run and ecstatically ran around the bases.

But I'm not so sure they aren't still playing at a pretty high level. Granted, the aces who start no longer go 3 innings: last night Scherzer went 2 and Sale 1. But you better believe they were trying to get guys out and going with good stuff. Thus did Chris Sale throw 101 mph for the first time since 2010. And you cannot convince me that hitters weren't trying to hit. Far from it. That leaves defense and baserunning. I believe they are eager to make great defensive plays, but might be just a tad cautious about running into walls or the baseline stands to make a grab, which is fine with me. As for baserunning, they do slide when it's called for, etc. but maybe don't risk a steal as much. My point is it is still very good baseball.

Can't put Bruce Lee on there. It took him too long to beat up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and even then only by exposing his blindness to sunlight. No martial arts expert should struggle like that with a basketball player. Do you want to see Jason Statham fight to a draw with Chris Paul? And then only beat Paul by taking advantage of his peanut allergy? I didn't think so...

Horse Pucky. If it was just any basketball player I'd agree with you, but Jabbar is no slouch.

I'd like to see Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain go at it.

Btw - MARLON BRANDO better be on this team or I’m putting a horses head in all your beds.....

There was a time in his life when he was the ultimate cool guy, especially after The Wild Ones in which he rode a motorcyle and led a gang.

Not surprised. 49% voted for trump. That’s a lot of Hader fans....

My thought too, but I wasn't sure I was going to go there. :D

Ya. You see, I respect your opinion but the word "flaming" is the one I object to.

Oh please. If Jabbar was so tough, his next movie would not have been Airplane!..

Did 49% vote for Trump or did 49% vote against Hillary? Frankly the choice we had sucked both ways; there were a lot of people who voted against the other candidate.

Caveat - I did vote but I didn’t vote for either one of them.

Those old tweets are certainly offensive but at Spring Training this year Josh Hader was a favorite of Brewer fans. I was in the second row of a section of Milwaukee fans who were collecting Brewer autographs before the game. The fans absolutely adored the personable Hader, who was wearing his glove fingers-forward as a cap, hair down to the middle of his back and sporting tattoos everywhere.

We should decide how much Hader should be held accountable today for youthful indiscretions.

Yup, people get carried away while looking for reasons to be offended.

I doubt there is anyone alive who didn't have doosh moments when they were kids.

I voted for Gary Johnson. And I did not want him for President, either. (But his running mate was Bill Weld, whom I did like.)...

You don't think Jabbar is tough, you try dragging Walton or Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.

Nicely done, Murdock.

And on an unrelated side note, I think Bill Laimbeer needs to be considered for this Cool Guy list (Basketball player division). I hated him as a player, too. But then I learned he played a Sleastack in the original "Land of the Lost" TV show back when he was still in high school. I can't overlook that awesomeness anymore.

And yes, I think Laimbeer as a sleastack could whoop Jabbar and throw him in that smoky pit, for whatever was in there to do whatever it did....

There's not much doubt that we had an ugly litter of pups to choose from in 2016.

Exactly. I didn’t look at the tweets and I’m not going to (no desire to and Twitter is stupid IMO anyway). Sounds like they happened when Hader was in high school. If so, I ask the condemners would you want to be held responsible now for something stupid you said at 16 or 18 years old? And please don’t deny you (not you specifically Harmony, you generically) didn’t because everyone does.

If he said them a month or even a year or 2 ago different story.

ahaha. No way. Laimbeer was Sleastack? I truelly hated that guy as a player, but this changes everything.

Actually what is typical is your response to me.

Clint is a DB for what he has publicly said.

This is why I am instilling in Manny (12 year old) to be very very very careful what you post online and/or text to friends. It’s there forever.....

I think he was mayor of his city for 1 term, and probably could have stayed major for much longer. It is pretty cool to have Clint Eastwood as your mayor. He has never been big in National politics or taken up big political causes. I haven’t seen him at rallies etc. He got involved in his local community politics for a short period. That should be the way all celebrities should get involved in politics instead of the celebrities who want to tell everyone else how to live.

Your Son?

Yea. Seriously. You can have your life ruined nowadays over one stupid thing you say caught on video or something you post on social media. It's almost unfair.

There are people out there that just have post such positive messages. They are always looking at the bright side. I admire those people. Unfortunately I can be a dick with a bad outlook sometimes. But I try to tell myself, only post positive stuff. That one bad rant you go on can ruin you.

As for current cool guy actors...

Josh Brolin?

I have Hunter S Thompson as my first base coach giving anyone who lands on first mescaline.

it is the good thing about being retired. I don’t give a s***. I don’t care if I get ostracized from clubs, organizations or other groups in polite society. I have no desire to belong to any group think organization and polite society can kiss my ass. My checks come every month. If someone wants to try to ruin me over something I post, go ahead and try. Make my day. I’ll sue you in my free time (acting as my own attorney) and make your life miserable just for kicks. And when you have to give me a check in settlement or because you lose the case, I will wave it in your face. I don’t lose cases. Retirement can be very liberating, especially after a long career of having to watch every word.

I do feel for the younger people who get sucked into the Internet thinking it is a place for the free exchange of ideas without repercussion. It is a minefield where words and thoughts can be misconstrued and used as weapons against you. It is a place where a mob can be quickly whipped up to denounce you with hopes of ruining you based on nothing more than a smear, and most people don’t have the tools to fight back. It is fraught with peril.

I was somewhere around thirdbase on the edge of the basepath when the drugs began to take hold....
