Bottom on Porcello did indeed plummet in May. He's get a decent repertoire, but needs to hit his spots. Back in April I had the impression he was keeping the ball low, but you need control to do that.

Porcello's last 4 starts have been the worst 4 of his season. He's going to turn it around today.

Keep the trolling to a minimum today you miserable f***s.

About the only guy I attack on game threads is Pom, and even there I try to hold off at least until the roof falls in.

I was really down on Porcello before the season started, but did see he was pitching better in April--way better than I expected. At one point I thought he just might be the ace this year. Then the deluge.

Right now you gotta be partially or wholly blind not to root for these Sox. I was down on the guys before the 3 games at Yankee Stadium where the Sox only won one, but I loved what I saw, especially in the two games they lost. They had a shot at winning both of them.

These Sox unquestionably have flaws, but they have a lot of strengths too, to say nothing of the best record in MLB.

All that needs to be said.

How long will Betts be out?

Cora told me he's not sure, but thinks Mookie could be back for the Astros series. He added he doesn't see the need to use him against a bunch of second raters like the Jays and thinks he just might have Swihart catch the 3d game on Wed.

Mookie Betts not expected to return until Houston series. Alex Cora said that if this were September, Betts would likely be playing

Porcello is throwing a no-hitter tonight, I can feel it.

Youk ...I am making a vow ....I want to be held accountable .I will no longer curse on this board and I will no longer attack with power and Fury our catching situation ....I will step away during moments of Redsox anger ....It's step one admitting I'm a negative nelly ....There it's done ....I feel like throwing up .I want to publicly Apologize to Sandy Leon and Vaz ...and Rick Porcello ..David Price the whole hand numb thing was hard on me ...ok ...and there's a few here I may have steamrolled....wasn't nice or kind .Ok think I'm purged ....continue please .

I thought he was hurting the other day when he dove for that ball near the line & uncharacteristically didn't make the catch. He looked like he was really hurting after that. I know it's kinda brutal to watch, like the other day when both he and JDM were out when Sale was pitching, but these are the times when Cora is making the right call. LOOOOOONG season, and he's gotta protect his guys.

Good call.

Ooops , didn't mean to tag this post, but I'm on my tiny phone & can't see very well. Anyway...

If mookie was going to have to spend some time out of the lineup it's just as well its while the Jays are around. Maybe Cora really just wants to make sure mookie is fine for the next series.

Grandy...another guy that is all done. The Jays have more guys that are all done or out of place than any team I can remember. Maybe the best player on the team is the closer....like the Jays need a closer this year.

How long until Mitch becomes "the next BIG real 1st baseman" for the Red Sox?

Will we always assume, probably for good statistical norm reasons, that he will return to his historic norms? Or..... will Boston FULL TIME play become his "new normal?"

I think the series upcoming against Houston will tell us a lot about our team. Can’t wait for that one. 4 game series.
