Fine. But if you're going to post part of a conversation that happened yesterday at least post it accurately. To suggest that it was said that it was smart to strike out in that situation is disingenuous at best and dishonest at worst.

Yes, "smart" was over the top, but I was and am still torqued at the notion that JBJ should have been in that game because he would have K'd instead of GIDP'd. Indeed, that same argument can now be made for every single GIDP the Sox have: too bad the hitter didn't K because we'd have been better off. That too me makes no sense because it depends entirely on 20-20 hindsight. But of course hindsight runs rampant on our game threads, so why the heck not?

As for JBJ, as handy as his K's might occasionally be (in lieu of a GIDP), it would appear Cora and the FO are going to let him watch some more games.

13 hits, along with Mookie 3XBH and JD 2XHB for 4 runs is terrible.

Yup. About as bad as letting Baltimore score 7 runs. A bad night all around, but most of my anger is toward Pom.

What catcher goes 10 straight?

The general idea is to give him a fairshot is to start 2-3 series, which covers 7-10 days. Not a token oddball game in the OF.

He's a better catcher than Vaz bigger target better arm better runner better hitter ....Start Swihart the next two weeks no Vaz and Sandy will fade into oblivion .

The entire Sox coaching staffs for two different managers assure you that Swihart is not a better catcher than Leon or Vazquez. Yes, he is a better runner, but that only helps if you get on base. With Vazquez and Leon catching last year, the Sox caught 39%--second best in MLB--of opposing baserunners stealing.

I’ve been always big supporter of Pom, but sometimes you have to accept the reality. Probably his days in Red Sox uniform are counted. It’s a shame.

I hope it's Porcello and not Poorcello.

So...

Mr. Tingles

Poorcello

Pom and circumcision

Eee Rot

and

Chris Freakin' Sale

How naive you all are.

It's clearly a plot by the SR to make Price the #1 he's always felt he's been denied.

;)

Hey! It makes as much sense as anything else . . . .

How'd the Yankees do last night?

Showed some rust. Our kid struggled in the field and let in what should have been three unearned runs. It was one bad game in what has been a scintillating debut.

Back to Pom, he has sucked hard all year and is not showing major league stuff

Late starts to the season can be killers for pitchers. Alex Cobb was absolutely horrific his first few starts.

Pomeranz might not be 100% physically, though.

One more start like last night and he'll be sent to the DL, I expect.

All true. But what bugs me about Pom is his complete inability or unwillingness to develop a changeup to help with facing all those righty bats.

Pom always held the possibility of a career with a sharp peak followed by a sharp decline and a slow painful end. We got a part of the peak but I fear we might be in for much more of the sharp decline and slow painful end. His go to game plan for getting outs was always somewhat precarious for a starter.

But unless a medical eval shows some additional deterioration somewhere I for one am adamant that he get one more start anyway because his four seam FB has bottomed out. It was getting worse week by week until his last start where it was as bad as it was the week before but not worse. If there is no additional medical deterioration that can be verified he has to get one more start. If he is still mucking about on that one more start, then the chance that he has to just give up his rotation spot becomes more likely IMO.
