Almost merciful ending because our offense just didn’t have it tonight. Our last run was appropriately unearned.

Impressive three-inning relief job by recent Toronto call-up Sam Gaviglio, a nearly 28-year-old right-hander out of Oregon State University.

I was tempted to drive to Corvallis tonight to watch the third-ranked Beavers, who lead second-ranked Stanford 4-0 after four innings.

Johnson might have just passed Hembee as the most likely out-of-options pitcher to be DFA'd.

Too bad he never really got a long look as a starter this year. Maybe RP'ing is just not his thing.

To remind: Hanley took away one run when he failed to take off on that two out double. As it turned out, that would have been the winning run.

He is not a professional despite that salary he gets.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but when someone tries to become an MLB pitcher and has panic attacks due to high stress. It may not work out well

Certainly as a high leverage RP'er, the odds go down.

What a waste of a terrific effort by Sale. We are wasting the efforts we are getting from our starters with an abysmal bullpen, spotty hitting and some managerial work that seems like it needed to stay on the vine just a bit longer.

Man, that ball that JD hit, that Hanley got thrown out on, hit the very top of the wall. Game of inches and all that.

250 hitter 12 to 18 dingers a year ...Terrible base runner ...I think the kid can be easily upgraded .

I think we still need to give him time. Certainly he's no power hitter, but it's still too early in his career to make that assessment.

Chris sale was a work horse today. Hope we can pull this out for him.

Sale has been an interesting case this season. While his ERA is still very respectable, what many would call good, he's been giving up his fair share of runs. The issue of run support, as we have established, is a pretty significant problem. I feel bad for him when he's forced into a no decision and stuff, but the games we end up losing because of that are even worse. At least he's not taking the loss.

I think part of Beni's problem is that he is intimidated by the size of our RF and he takes that on the road with him as well. He wants to hit HR's and thinks he has to crush the ball to do it. That is why he takes these ridiculous behemoth swings only to pop the ball up. Once he gets his hands back inside the baseball all the time as opposed to only on occasion, he will be whatever hitter he is going to be.

He should just trust that the ball will go if it should go, especially this juiced baseball. This year's might be even more juiced up than the ball from 2017. I saw Harper hit a broken bat HR the other day, A BROKEN BAT HR and it was not a little doink shot either. It screamed out of the park with a broken bat. We should be noticing how much more often the ball gets stung with a broken bat these days.....tells you something about the ball itself.

And he lets him stay in ....Cora suuuuuuuuucks

So this is a perfect representation of the kind of negativity that keeps me away from this place on some occasions. I get that Barnes is having issues, but he got out of it. I get that in the moment, it felt like he was going to blow it. We lost, but not because of him. I'm not saying Barnes is good, and doesn't have control problems, but as a whole, people need to be a little more positive around here. Have some faith. We're a first place team. We know how to get through tough games.

And, based on how the season has gone so far, how can you possibly say that just because of this one potential gaffe (which didn't even cost us the game), that Cora sucks? IMO, he's beating Boone for Manager of the Year just based on the fact that Boone has more talent to work with. Is that the kind of person you are? Is that how all of you on this place are? A man makes what looks like one bad decision at the time and now all of a sudden he sucks and you people hate him? I don't like being a member of a community that thinks like that.

Yeah, you gotta love that 'Exit Velocity', huh?

It is a very clever hashtag urging Dombrowski to save 22 million dollars and apply it elsewhere!

Really? Pretty neat, actually. Thanks.

I like Hanley when he is hitting, but I hate it when he doesn't hustle.

Unfortunately, right now we do need his bat. It helps that he can play a decent 1B as well as DH and that JDM can DH or play RF or LF. Right now the Sox have seven pretty good bats: Betts, Beni, Hanley, JDM, Bogie, Devers, and Moreland. When JBJ plays CF, that number goes to six.

Good for you Thunder, seriously.

I'm serious though. You know how early in the season I went on a 9 game GT mojo streak? I couldn't stand being around here during the actual games themselves because of some of the things you people were saying, and that was going on while we were in route to a 17-2 start. At that point, what more could you possibly want from this team? Who cares if someone was slumping, or somebody made an error? We were winning goddammit. And now, we've simply evened out. A baseball season has so many natural fluctuations. We're a little stuck in the mud right now. It's no big deal. We'll get out of it. Stop making this place sound like we're as bad as the Orioles or something.

The lineup that I would employ for Saturday's game against Estrada:

Betts RF

Benintendi LF

Hanley 1b

Martinez DH

Bogaerts SS

Devers 3b

Swihart 2b

Leon C

Bradley CF

The Swihart at 2B idea is ridiculous.

Yeah, like UN? said, that's crazy talk. Get Swihart out of here.

Boone won't make Manager of the Year unless his team totally runs over the league...actually possible considering the trash that is being called a ML team this year and Cora won't stand a chance unless he can keep his team abreast of Boone's team.

I suspect your Manager of the Year this year will come from some team of trash players that truly distinguishes itself.

I know you were being serious and I meant to give you an honest compliment.
