Good for you--plus you gave your reasons why before the season started. I was not so sanguine or sage. I did think the hitting would pick up, but had my doubts about the pitching.

If you mean a save should not be obtainable in a 10-3 game, I agree. But the 3 innings and 1 runs were especially good because this was the 5th game in a 13 game skein with no days off and Walden saved a couple of bullpen arms for the days ahead.

I liked them before the season started - I love them now. They have a different identity and it has been good for all of us including Pedroia to watch. He for sure will add to the team when he gets back but this is a good team with or without him. Sometimes it is good for these guys to see that they are not indespensible.

I completely agree that Walden's 3 innings were valuable. No argument there.

I don't even consider it a stat. That is just me though. Personally, the only thing that I focus in on is who gets the job done and how it gets done. Walden did a good job yesterday.

Actually, that is the key. ILO a merit badge, Walden gets to stay on the big club because you better believe the manager and his pitching coach rely mostly on "who gets the job done and how it gets done."
