It's been so much winning while playing those clubs. The fact that we can run through them with a AAA lineup and no closer shows how far they need to go to be competitive.

for the MFY it was a good time of the season to lose CroMag man for a 4-6 week DL stint. the depth was still good enough to TCOB vs the weak teams.

Lineup with Torres, Andujar, Hicks, Stanton, Gardner, Romine regularly is not a AAA lineup.

Judge was missed in the Sox series. But we missed our top starter in Sale. Your entire SP average 4 innings in the sweep (with Boonie manipulating his staff to lined up for the series) . You can't say that missing Judge was a key factor there when the starter can't go 5 effective innings.

We missed Judge and Sanchez for the sox series. And for one game, we got absolutely s*** on. Game 2 and 3 our offense died. Game 4 our bullpen died. To say adding in Judge and Sanchez wouldn't have helped is ridiculous. Maybe in Game 4, they put it further out of reach? Maybe they start a rally in games 2 and 3 enough to come back. Game 1 was where Sale was supposed to be. You could have started the ghost of Craig Breslow and won that game. Your offense was teeing off. Their presence certainly wouldn't have hurt.

The Sox were undoubtedly the better team that series. But the Yankees had the head-to-head lead coming into that series. So what does that mean? Apparently nothing. Just like the Sox head-to-head advantage will mean nothing when they face off for 6 more games and possibly again in the playoffs. Both teams are pretty evenly matched when at full strength. As stressful as it would be for all of us, I think the baseball world deserves another NYY-BOS postseason series.

Yanks rally at home and take a game. Good to see. Lance Lynn might end up being challenged by Sonny for his rotation spot

I'm not falling for that trap again. Good Gray one good start does not make.

Lynn looked good yesterday. Just some bad defense and seeing eye hits did him in. He has pitched as well as you can ask for a #5 starter.

LOL you're too easy to spot Babe. One of your most obvious tells is that habit of firing short snarky questions.

These two games vs the White Sox, you see the cumulative effect of losing 3 top hitters from your lineup. We were effectively completely stymied by Rodon, Shields and Lopez. Now, the initial and the last are good, Shields is a shell of his former self. Most teams can get by when their star hits the DL for 2 weeks, but when you lose 3 stars, 2 of them for more than a month, the cracks begin to show. We need to get healthy

Didi and Sanchez should be back this weekend. Replacing Higashioka with Sanchez and Voit/Torreyes with Didi are a couple of significant offensive upgrades. Time for the offense to get into a groove.

Yesterday's turn of events was a serious gut punch. If it wasn't for wanting to see McCutchen play tonight, I'd probably be taking a few day hiatus from watching baseball.

I typically 'quit' baseball several times a year because of the serious gut punches (not this year though), but then I'm right back into it by the time the next game starts. LOL

It was ridiculously predictable, though. When I saw the events lining up with Britton in the 8th and Betances warming, I put a game of Madden on and listened to the game rather than watched it. Betances comes up small in the 9th inning time and time and time again. Boone hasn't learned that yet for some reason.

David Cone made a very interesting observation. Sevy has fallen in love with his slider earlier in the count. It has decreased its effectiveness as a put away pitch and is likely somewhat to blame for his little drought. It has also forced him to use his changeup more than he wants to, and it isn't a reliable enough pitch to use more than 10-15 times a game. Sevy should be using the heater almost exclusively earlier in counts and showing the slider on put away pitches. When a batter sees his slider early in the count, it makes it easier to take later in the count.

As I type this, the Dawel Lugo at bat is a perfect example. Sevy drops two sliders from 0-1 to 2-1. He gets to 2-2 with the fastball, then throws a nasty slider just off the plate that Lugo takes. He's already seen it twice in the AB, so it was easy for him to take even though the pitch was just sick and should have been strike 3. Then he goes to the change 3-2 and gives up a hit.

Sevy better that inning even with the Lugo single. Nasty slider to K Candelario then he blew away McCann with high heat. Sevy has 99mph heat, yet he's more a low in the zone guy. I would rather see him use the upper reaches of the strike zone with the heat while using the slider down to change eye levels and get strikeouts

Sevy doesn't learn. He goes back to back with the slider on 1-1 to get it to 1-2. Throws a couple fastballs then the Lugo kid is sitting on a slider and singles to right. The slider he threw to Lugo was a nasty one, off the plate away. But the kid had already seen 2 of them in the AB and he read it.

I wonder if Sanchez will help Sevy. It seems Sevy has fallen off since Sanchez went down. The stuff is there. He throws a 100mph with location. He has a devastating slider. His change is pretty good. His sequencing is way, way off.

Stupid f***ing pitch calling. First pitch, get me over slider with two runners on and two outs. Just stupid. I sincerely hope Sanchez fixes this issue. He’s got a 100mph fastball that he can locate all over the zone. Why is he getting ahead with his slider? This doesn’t make sense. That’d be like Sale throwing “get me over” sliders to scrubs. No power pitcher worth their salt does that. Time to see what the sequencing can do to help Sevy. His stuff is still dominant. He’s just showing way too much of his arsenal early in count. Locate the heat to get strikes 1 and 2. Mix in the change if you have to. Go to the slider later on counts.
