Got to be at least 7 more than last year’s disaster. Cora by himself has to be good for at least 5 more. Plus JD, Devers for the whole season, and a bunch of guys yearning to improve on last year. Knee deep in quality starters. Kimbrel back.

105 wins? Not enough?

I'll take the under.:)

FanGraphs has the Red Sox at 93 wins:

92 wins by another FanGraphs measure:

Your lack of polling is disturbing.

What polling? The entire OP is facetious, a reminder of all the complaints about last year’s 93 win team. I have no idea how many wins this year.

Coincidentally the score of the last UNC-BC game...

BC was actually a tough out in the ACC this year. They beat duke.

Why doesn't this have a poll option?

Now I understand. Thanks. It doesn't have one because I have no idea how to do a poll, which is probably a good idea.

The only change you need to do to add a poll to a new thread:

before clicking submit, scroll down to additional options, check the box to add a poll and change the number if you want more or less than 4 poll options

after clicking submit, you'll be brought to another screen where you can fill out the poll

Easy peasy.

Interesting that so far the preponderance of votes--87%--see this year as basically the same as last year even though Farrell is gone, JD is added, and everyone else is back. Oh, and Price is healthy.

And I'm the only one who voted for 96-101 wins, and my actual prediction is 96.

I think you’ll improve by 2 games. You’re already starting with some poor health AND you got a great replacement season from Pom in Price’s stead. If your pitchers stay healthy you’ll be really good

I agree Sale and Price can be really good (and have been). After them, to me it's iffy. Porcello, especially. Plus Pomeranz and and ERod are just trying to get healthy. Wright is a huge question mark because that knuckler can come and go even in a good year.

That said, you could be right: if the pitchers are healthy all six of those I mentioned have had at least one solid season--except for ERod, but he has definitely showed promise. Wright only had 24 starts in 2016, but 15 were QS.

I'd have chosen the ranges like this:

81-90

91-92

93-94

95-96

97-98

99-100

101-102

103-104

105+

Those are better and what I had in mind, but this dummy couldn't do it. So I'm glad someone else stepped in.

We could be a better team this year, but that doesn't necessarily mean more wins. There's a hundred other factors that determine the actual number of wins, including the decision to rest players before the playoffs if a seeding has been won.

Wins also depend a lot on how we're being pressed either by the Yanks, or by say the Guardians or Astros for seeding rights. You win more when you gotta win more.

And let's not forget our typical rotation's fatigue, and injury-proneness as a factor in the number of wins.
