The Sox are at 92-66 with three games left. By winning just one more game they will have 93 wins.

The Yankees are 89-69, so even if they win their remaining three games, they will have only 92 wins.

So why isn't the 'magic' number for the Sox to win the division '1' ?

Aah! My bad.

The Yankees lost, now the Sox have to win one and should, so the chance for the pennant is good. What we do after that can be anticipated by what we do against Houston in the current series. That is not off to so good a start.

If they clinch today (which, with the Yankees and Jays scheduled for an afternoon game, they theoretically could do before ever taking the field), I would read nothing into how the rest of the series goes. It will be spring training mode with second stringers all over the place.

I know the Astros and Guardians are in a battle for best record, but with the Sox will be locked into the 3rd slot, it is far more important to let a few guys heal up as much as they can than play the Astros tough. If that means they have to play the Guardians, so be it.

Astros have to win, 1 loss and Cleveland win its over for Astros. A tie at end of season Guardians get homefield, based on season series record.

Guardians are playing the White Sox, that ought to be a slaughter. 2 wins its over for Astros.

So basically 1 loss by Astros and its over, unless the White Sox seep the Guardians. haha

Why are the Jays and Yankees playing at 1 today? Outside of Wrigley Field before the lights went in or a day-night doubleheader situation, I don't ever remember seeing a Friday afternoon game scheduled, and I go back 50 years of following the game. Maybe when the 4th of July has been on a Friday (or in the case of the Blue Jays/Expos, Canada Day).

Yanks and Sox play at 1 tomorrow. Lot of scoreboard watching, if Yanks win today, and we lose. Guardians will be watching this game too.

Good question.

At this point it's really the less of two evils. And I guess it's Houston but at this point I'm just happy we can win the division and make playoffs. Hopefully avoid a sweep for a second straight year. Looking like we will get Houston. Hopefully we get some players back healthy and ready to play. However not quite sure what good it will do if Sale, Poms, Porcello and E Rod pitch games like they did this last week. Pretty much gives us zero chance when our pitchers can't make it past 4 innings.

Regardless who is back and healthy we need Sale and Poms to have the games of their life there is no other way we can win. The offense is way too inconsistent to keep up with a powerhouse like Houston especially against a Verlander. I trust Sale and Poms will bring their A game and play like their life is on the line. Wish I could say the same about Porcello but I can't. Guy is way too off his game this year for me to trust him in a big playoff game.

Yom Kipper? That's tomorrow, only thing I could see unless they have an event there?

Yom Kippur starts at sundown tonight.....the Jewish day starts at sundown. Thats probably the reason.

This is the reason the Yankee game is in the afternoon today? Wow. Is it because there is such a large Jewish population in New York?

There is a large Jewish population in NY. Its also possible that some of the players or staff are Jewish. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year for Jews.
