How do you know when someone believes they know more about baseball than anyone else? They'll tell you how many years they've been watching for.

Francona was the greatest Sox manager in history.

I would agree that he was the best in my lifetime. He was also my favorite. He doesn't get a free pass from second guessing or criticism. No one does.

As far as being smarter than someone, it has nothing to do with how many years one has watched baseball

What's hilarious is that every manager gets accused of leaving starters in too long, as if they're not aware of the fact that the guy has given up some runs and doesn't have his best stuff.

And sometimes the starter has to take one for the team, but it is frustrating to watch, and it is amusing that 7 seems to be the magic number.

It is kind of funny that it so often ends up at 7.

This is as far as I'll go. MAYBE the Sox managers have been too focused on some of the on air talent for NESN. MAYBE that would have distracted them here and there as they stood on the dugout steps. I don't think they'd get completely lost in daydreaming that they forgot to get a bullpen arm warming up.

Some have been distracted by print journalists.

It's kind of that same thing in thinking that an AL manager would not know how to do a double switch. Let's give these guys some credit.

Francona took unbelievable abuse throughout his last few years in Boston. Maybe not on this site but on the BDC site and on the nightmarish (LOL) Sawxheads site.

Sawxheads was the first site I ever posted at. It was a good site, but the 2011 season proved to be more than that site could withstand. LOL
