50 games over .500?? umm....

Seems right to me; For instance, lets start with 50 wins and 50 losses 50-50. Now eliminate 25 losses (50-25) Now we have played 100 games (50-50) so we have to add the losses to the win column (75-25) Sure looks like 50 games over .500 to me. Thanks for the question marks.

I thought Buch was excellent. Not his best but pretty f***ing good.

Oh my Gawd, why bring Taz in while he is pitching so poorly?

Oh well.

Telling bad stat on Tazawa, in 44 appearances, he's had only had 10 outings where he's gone 1 inning or more and been clean. Worse, he's had none since June 22 and only 3 since May.

In looking at the gamelogs, he's been okay since he came back from the DL. 9 appearances, 6 scoreless. Bad games in 2 of his last 3 (now 3 of his last 4) though. He's been pitching every 3rd day for the most part, so rest isn't really an issue, today was 4 days rest.

It would sure be nice if SOMEBODY would seize the setup role and embrace it; nobody seems to be able to do that.

Hmm, should tell that to Farrell.

That's true with most relievers.

Xander has forgoten the basic mantra of hitting: wait, wait, wait---quick, quick, quick

He's in a bad slump, and is over anxious. He should, and will be, dropped in the batting order.

While Hernandez is still on the big club, maybe Bogey needs another day or two off.

Every loss by the BP is awful. Someone take the torch and start a new streak.

You had a very good run Station. Can't win 'em all, but it is so frustrating to watch our BP blow so many games for us.

On a bright note, Clay pitched well.

We'll get 'em tomorrow.

Tiger fans had to deal with this for about the past 8 years. The one weakness of Dombrowski was building a bullpen.

You can build the best bullpen the world has ever seen, and if players start to underperform, you look like an idiot. You can assemble the most talent-free gaggle of jokers, and if someone starts pitching over their head, you look like a genius.

I really feel that DD did everything that could reasonably be expected of a GM, to improve this roster.

They sent Hernandez down today Moon. To make room for Hanley.

What arms? lol

the trade market for relievers was over at the deadline.

They can still make a waiver deal. That process runs through September 1st. It's hard to do, but not impossible.

They grabbed Mike Myers on waivers during the championship season. There's still time, but running out day by day.

Great streak 13station! You should still be alive but Tarawa was used in a close game. That is on Farrell and on Tarawa for sucking so much.

As stated earlier but worth repeating....EXCELLENT start by no sleep clay. Deserved a better fate (W)

We need a w to orrow

I'd have sent Marrero.

Me too. I would have played him over Marrero, but the lefty situation comes into affect. I don't think you will get the best use of Marrero's glove at second. Both of them up at the same time made no sense. All said and done they are both minor parts as of today.

I also see if they don't sign Pap( unlikely) because rumors down here he still wants to close. He wants another contract. I guess being the 7 th inning man doesn't work out pitching in the AL East.. He was throwing 91 before he was released. I see Joe Kelly coming up. That is how desperate things have come down to. In the end ,I just go with Pap. He be a two month thing anyway. That's it.

Marrero is a waste of space. I'd keep Hernandez over him any day. Marrero has been a big disappointment. Thanks again Farrell for bringing in Taz. What a joke. He keeps bringing in another bullpen guy to try and clean up Taz mess. Sick of it...

Back to the using Tazawa issue. My only new thought is that I think Farrell, Lovullo, and the pitching coach need to rethink who does what in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. In Farrell's defense, I think Ziegler going out to pitch the 8th would probably not have been much better. Didn't he give up that 3 run dinger to Cabrera not long ago?

And this additional thought about Dombrowski, of whom I have been critical. He just might have put together a decent if not great rotation by adding Price and Pomeranz. We have now seen six starters pitch credibly. However, the bullpen is still a problem.

I could certainly be wrong, but I think right now the three best relievers are the hard throwers Kimbrel, Barnes, and Ross.

Their best option is to petition MLB to shorten games to 6 innings. That last game in Baltimore was a beautiful thing, as Eck would say.

Aramark would hate this.

Yup, no lead is safe with the current crew in the bullpen.

I agree. We took a big hit with Smith's injury at the beginning of the season. That was my favorite Dombrowski move, BTW.

I also agree that Dombrowski did everything that could reasonably be expected. I'm not happy with some of the prices that we paid, both in $ and prospects, but he set this team up to be a legitimate contender for 2016.

A GM cannot be held accountable for the injuries and underperformances.

I can't really fault Farrell for bringing in Tazawa. Recently, pretty much anyone that Farrell sends out there has stunk. His choices were very limited.

Ross had already been used. Barnes was unavailable. Kimbrel was being saved for the 9th. Abad? I don't think so. That leaves Tazawa, Ziegler, and Hembree. Choose your poison. Ziegler had worst numbers against the batters coming up than Taz had, if I'm not mistaken. Don't know about Hembree. I guess an argument could be made for Ziegler or Hembree, but neither of them was a clear cut choice.

Having Abad waste a roster space is becoming a problem. Get somebody else up. His whole LOOGY business is not working.

I agree. It's time to cut ties with Abad.
