Kimbrel couldn't have gone another inning? He only threw 14 pitches and looked filthy.

 

It's not just the number of pitches that need to be considered, but also the getting up and sitting down and getting back up again. How often to closers pitch in 3 different innings in the same game?

i blame Farrell for this win. not holt, nor the relievers. JF.

 

It's funny how Farrell gets so much blame for a loss, but he gets very little credit when all of his moves work out brilliantly.

while i agree with you that we may have overpaid for him (although based on what transpired at the trade deadline im not so sure anymore) i cannot see how you can say he "stinks"? especially coming off of last night.....

Since we won, I sure hope you're right, but I keep remembering our latest homestand when we went 4-5. We took two from the Giants, great, but then split 4 with the Twins and lost all 3 to the Tigers. On the road trip we have so far split with cellar-dwellers LA and with .500 Seattle. Now 3 in a NL park which probably means no Ortiz and maybe no Ramirez.

More likely that he was just looking to get into it with somebody over nothing significant.
