Every time Josh Rutledge plays, I forget about him completely until the next time he plays. I cannot remember another Red Sox player in the last decade who has played this many games with the Sox in one season and is yet so utterly forgettable. He's not good enough to draw my notice, and he isn't useless enough to draw my ire. He's like a ghost runner in a game of pickup baseball.

 

He played in about 25% of the games last year! Crazy.

Recently, he got his 100th career RBI. When I heard that, I was surprised that he played enough anywhere to get 100 RBI. I keep getting mixed up and I call him Jeff Rutledge.

With the way the Sox have been hitting, they can afford to wait it out until Swihart is ready, someone else is ready (Bennidetti -- sp?) is ready, Holt gets hot again or the trade line approaches and Dombrowski makes a deal. And for the criticism Young took earlier in the year, Young is batting .255 and .375 against lefties.

The first two weeks of the season Holt was the hottest hitter on the team and carried the team in multiple games, IE his grand slam in one of Joe Kellys s***** starts. a month later people want him off the team/benched for blake swihart of all people.Calm Down, now that my arch enemy Chris Young has started hitting, we have production 1-8 (with vazquez occasionally getting a hit). Stop complaining about the offense, and start complaining about REAL problems, like global warming, donald trump becoming president, and the Red Sox starting pitching rotation, in reverse order of the way I listed them of course.

Just a small announcement. I've banned redsoxdirtdog. I'm only explaining this because I did not want to give anyone the wrong idea. I did not ban him for making political comments, I didn't even ban him for continuing to be obnoxious after I asked him to stop posting political comments. I banned him because after I made the position clear and locked the thread, he proceeded to PM me and continue with similar comments, and got a little more vulgar about me personally. Anyways, I generally do not announce this sort of thing, but for the benefit of our new members and even for the benefit of our older members, I did not want anyone to think I was abusing my position by banning someone just because I didn't like them.

I love the Sox and gave up talking about buttholes and penises to be a more mature person, those who know me and know what vulgar things I post on other sites know that was a hard transition for me, not talking about buttholes is like Hanley Ramirez moving from SS to LF, only difference is I've excelled, Hanley.. errr didn't.

I've got to wonder. I've seen him get his dander up before, but I've never seen him that over the top, and all in such short order.

 

Might consider a short suspension; as I tried to say in the locked Schilling thread, he's got a lot of good insights to share on the Sox. Given what went on tonight, I can't blame you for your action though.

Apparently he last pitched in the majors in 2013 with Toronto, which I didn't even remember. I always find it crazy in baseball that guys will take a few years off, play in minors, play in Japan, or whatever and just randomly end up back in the league years later. I thought Wang was long retired. Pretty crazy.
