What's the record for most BB in a game for both teams? It's got to be within reach....

Apparently 16 BB for a single PITCHER has been done in a single game before. (Tom Byrne in 1951 had 16 BB in 12.2 innings).

When ever I see stat lines for pitchers way back in the early 20th century with like a 12 ERA, 28 BB, over just 14 IP, it really puts the legends like Ruth in perspective. I really wonder if the Babe could even make in the majors in todays game. He could very well be a Panda!

in extras? Shame on the opponent.

Need to fix this bench. They handcuffed the team so much.

Rutledge has been great so far, Chris Young has been a .868 against lefties and Hannigan is a defensive oriented player anyway.

Boy Robbie Ross looks like he should be working somewhere with Rob embroidered on the front of his shirt.

Technically his name IS embroidered on his shirt:p

WIN!!!!!

Sox just took two from the league leading team.

Now off to NY to feast on the worst team in the league again!

Taking 2/3 from one of best teams in league, on the road? Can't complain much with that.
Someone will find a way.

Chris Young stinks. He is at.671 against LH starters. Those are the guys he is paid to hit, not the garbage bag journeymen relievers like Zach Duke in blow out games.

Chris Young's OPS is definitely .868 against lefties this year. The other hitters on the team get to feast on the Dukes of the world too.

He stinks. His BA against LH Starters is under .200 with an OBP under. 300 and an OPS of .671. And he is paid to hit the tough lefty starters, not the the lefty garbage time guys. Edited by a700hitter

And they looked competent doing it, for the most part. This isn't a time when one can spit out the line that all we are doing is beating other crappy teams.

Clay stumbled and settled down, Owens wasn't effective but somehow the damage was limited ... Wright pitched well, but the offense wasn't cooking that night. It did the next two. Hanley and JBJ are finding their power swings. Holt has come out of his slump. Pedey had SIX three hit games already ... (at least 6) .... and Papi has been outstanding.

He's paid to hit all of them.

Perhaps. But elsewhere Farrell is chastised for playing him at all. I happen to agree he is paid to hit all of them and that Farrell should give him opportunities--not too many--to do so.

Strictly for clarification purposes:

The stat 'vs LH starters' actually represents all numbers for games that were started by lefties, not all numbers vs. lefty starters. So it also includes numbers vs. righty relievers in those games.

I think most people want him to at least hit every lefty, which is what Farrell said he'd do.

vs. LHP

Young .250/.368/.500/.868 (4-16) 4K

Holt .300/.462/.300/.762 (3-10) 3K

Shaw .083/.120/.125/.245 (2-24) 8K

2 of the 3 are going to play when a lefty starts, unless Rutledge worms his way into more PT

Great job by the bottom of the bullpen tonight by the by. They carried the game against a good lineup and only let up 1 run in 6 innings.
