Recent hiccups by ER and Owens highlights why our 2015 rotation should not feature 2 rookies. Let one win a job. The others are depth.

Only way both should be in the rotation is if the other three starters are studs.

Our pitching prospects remain very overrated. Owens getting destroyed

To be fair, it's only one bad outing. Also, the consensus among scouts was that he would become a 3 and at best a 2. We started to overhype him based off of what he did last year in portland.

That would work, but we are still going to have Miley and Porcello. If we have 2 rookies in the rotation with them, that leaves room for 1 stud. That won't work.

The Red Sox come all the way back to tie the game at 8-8 on Shaw's two out 9th inning bases loaded hit. Why in the world did the third base coach send Ortiz to his death at the plate. He was out by 20 feet. Butterball sucks.

Chalk up a big assist to our coaching staff in yesterday's loss. In the 9 inning with the bases loaded two out and the winning run on second base, Lovullo did not pinch run for Ortiz. That decision was compounded by Butterball sending Ortiz to his death at home plate by 20 feet on a hit that was fielded so close to the infield that the left fielder could shake the shortstops hand. Why not leave him 90 feet away and give Swihart a chance for the walk off? We have lost a ridiculous number of base runners on plays that have not been close or that just went against the book. Does Butterball think about what he is going to do out there?

Oh, good, for a moment there I was worried that Breslow had been abducted and replaced with an alien duplicate who might have actually been skilled at pitching.

LOL

To be fair, Breslow pitched 2 solid innings. Bringing him back out for a 3rd inning was asking too much.

I agree. I was surprised that Ortiz was not pinch run for, and the call to send Ortiz was terrible.
