There hasn't really been any middle ground for e-rod this year. He has either been amazing or awful when the hitters know exactly what he is gonna throw.

So is this kid still tipping his pitches or what's the deal, because you might have to put the ace talk on hold at this point.

The simple solution would be for him to dip his head every time he throws a pitch.

No point in sending him to Pawtucket; he may as well get his on-the-job training in the bigs. It's not like he's the weak link in an otherwise playoff-caliber rotation. Edited by Beaneater

Let's all also remember he is only 22 years old.

And how many 22 year olds tip their pitches and regularly get hammered for it?

He also certainly needs to work on his slider.

I'd agree to blow up the team, but is there anything to blow up? No one will want Napoli. We will get very little for the brittle Vicorino. They want to keep the most valuable assets in Betts and Bogaerts. Hanley is a huge financial commitment and he has not defensive position. Ortiz will die a Red Sox and Pedroia is still the heart of the team. He is probably the most valuable trading asset, but Ben doesn't have the cajones to trade him. Hanigan will not bring back much. No on wants Castillo for his contract. Panda might be a tradeable asset, but we would have to eat a lot of his salary. As for our pitchers, the kid ER is a keeper. Of the rest of them, probably only uehara has trade value. No one wants Masterson or Kelly for a stretch run, unless they want to miss the playoffs. Porcello's contract is a non starter. Maybe Miley's contract is reasonable enough to not be a deterrent to a trade.

Did anyone else note during this lovely game that Fat Boy cost his team another 4 unearned runs this game ( so far ).

That makes 5 runs his s*** play has lead to in the last 11 innings.

But it is easy to see that he is "above average" defensively. And absolutely the idea of getting him was good. The execution was bad!!!!!

When ever I dis this over paid lump off goo I get criticized and asked "so you would prefer to have Middlebrooks?" I used to give a detailed, rational answer to that question.

Now I will start giving a brief and rational answer to it. Yes.

the team allow an insane amount of unearned runs because of Panda and Hanley, mainly the former who just cannot field and throw. Fatboy cannot keep this s*** up anymore. Every position players except Xander and Mookie just don't have any range.

Pablo always seemed like an attention grab signing. Shields will be a better deal in every single year of their respective contracts.

I'd look to try to eat 15-20 million on that contract and dump him. Holt is the future at 3B.

Besides his poor defense, the other problem with Hanley this season is his ops. .790 isn't a bad ops by any means, but it's low for a guy with 19 hrs and a .265 batting average. He doesn't walk and somehow only has 6 doubles on the season.

Red Sox: 9 hits, 1 run

Angels 10 hits, 11 runs

I'm sick.

Our middle orders sucked all year. They just K or hit a double play ball when they come up.
