Neumy on The Baseball Show

Did anyone catch Neumy with merloni this evening on the baseball show and what Neumy had to say about trade ideas.

 

For those who didn't catch it, Neumy thinks that the Sox should trade X or Betts for a pitcher(Hamels was in this discussion). I for one feel this is a terrible decision. Betts and X have been on fire as of late, and could potentially become franchise players for Boston if things go well. They have shown their value, but I don't think getting rid of young studs is by any means a solid transaction for a starting pitcher. Especially since I feel like our pitching has been getting "slightly" better. (I cringe my teeth as I say that) With the exception of Porcello doing Porcello things and Kelly doing Kelly things, I feel wade has really shown he can be a part of the rotation and E-Rod doing great things.

 

To reiterate though, I do feel we need a nice big name guy like Lester in the rotation, but I don't feel getting rid of Betts or X is the answer for that. Plus I just bought a Betts jersey a couple weeks ago...

Neumeier should stick to horse racing, a sport he knows something about. His role on the baseball show is provocateur. Like all of his ilk I wouldn't take anything his says seriously except when it comes to handicapping the ponies.

There is a reason why the Sox deem Betts and Bogaerts untouchable.

For Hamels? Absolutely not. I would be looking for someone like Sale/Kluber/Gray/Felix. Maybe Salazar/Keuchel ?

 

I understand pitchers aren't always good long term investments, but getting one of those guys at the top of the rotation would change this team.

Everyone on the team should be on the table. Never hurts to ask or hear offers and negotiate.

 

Maybe not Papi, as we can let him finish out the year. Perdroia is another one that might need to be a keeper just cause of the history involved and how it would look to trade him.....

 

But everything should always be negotiable..
