Jacko seriously needs to be banned from Red Sox gamethreads.

Reality bites my friend. Just stating the facts. My bet is Farrell pays for this in season and Cherington pays for this soon after the season

Word. This isn't going to be a good season for the Red Sox, no matter how you slice it. A lot of folks here were predicting a box-to-wire first place finish even before the season started. But they were basing their optimism on baseball card stats, assuming that each and every player would perform to the peak of their potential, which is something that will never happen with any team anywhere. I'm curious to see how many more holdouts there still are on the optimism bandwagon when they're 15+ games out in September, all saying that the Sox could win 24 of the next 25 games in a triumphant last-minute surge.

I think Farrell's going to hang around. A WS in your first year, and after a last place finish sure resonates well.

Those optimists who mocked realistic projections of pitching failure (which are also turning out to be somewhat optimistic) will pack their camping equipment and take a hike from this place by the All Star Break. Lol!

I was busy tonight. I got lucky. I only saw the first 3 innings and the top of the 9th.

Loaded bases with no outs and the Sox failed to score?????

2 hits and 0 runs to start a 10 game road trip?????

Miley may not be very good.

Couldn't catch the game. Seems like pitching still not good but now the offense seems to be anemic. I would call it the perfect storm.

So do you do anything other than whine like a little bitch? Honestly curious.

Funny thing, I bet you're the kind of brilliant poster that would be tooting his own horn if they were kicking the league in the nuts right now. Give it a break.

WS was a matter of everything, miraculously, going right. Looks like the construction of the team last year and this was ALSO based on the notion that everything will go right: JBJ will replace Ellsbury, Nava will hit .300, so will Ortiz and Pedroia, so will Victorino, pitching will be clutch, Boggaerts will hit .380, Koji will come out of nowhere and dominate, scrap-heap veterans will return to form (Craig, a.k.a. Cameron). Wishful thinking may well get 3 last place finishes in 4 years.

That's not how this team was built at all. It was built to bash its way into contention and hold on until they could acquire pitching reinforcements. All of that stuff you're spouting above is nonsense. They have guys with a proven track record who are simply not getting it done. Whoever tells me they were expecting Napoli and Nava to be hitting under .180 at this point in the season is full of s***. Their futility (in general and with RISP) is inexplicable and something no one expected.
