Their (Phillies) starter pitched a hell of a game. But then that Ross guy steps up to the mound, and it was certainly not his night, but he got a free pass anyway. The Red Sox lost to themselves last night. If you can't score a bunch of runs against a pitching performance like that, it's going to be a very long season. Hell, Ross got left in long enough to give 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances to run him up a flagpole.

The Dean here says that if Masterson can give us six good innings and Ortiz and Co. do more than get two runs and three hits our chances tonight look pretty good. We should take this series but there are no guarantees in baseball. As early as it is, losing this series could start posing some questions about our staying power, but it shouldn't. We should win tonight.

Fred losing this series would indicate nothing. It is too early to draw any conclusions. But if they start say, 6 - 10 then maybe we can start to bitch and question the team. Even then it will still be very early in the season.
