I would rather face any team other than KC in the playoffs, should we make it. They're built very similarly to ours, and while our back two have been more dominant this season, the royals offense is leaps and bounds ahead of ours. We're too similar and with their offense, we're not gonna take a series vs them without some changes

And to think the Royals were thought of to not really be in the race for the AL central. Lots of surprises this season so far. Especially with the AL west playing so badly, the Guardians/White Sox playing badly, Toronto and Baltimore at the bottom of the AL east, and Boston's offense scoring in the bottom half of the league.

Their offense is really good. Volquez and Ventura could be a nice 1-2 punch, but they need one more arm to make it in the postseason, IMO. That being said, they can rake and their pen is lights out. They are gonna be a scary team this year. I'd rather face Detroit

Just snakebit right now. 6-2 lead and Eovaldi doesn't know to pitch with it. Then our bats go silent. Cannot be too upset about Miller, as he wasn't gonna go unscored upon all year, but definitely a deflating loss to be sure. We need to get home

There is a long way to go Doc. Many things can happen. Overall, you must be pretty pleased with your team. I would be.

Twisted his knee out of the batters box. Stayed in long enough to score, but it swelled up when he got to the dugout and they pulled him. It's not structurally damaging enough to keep him from running around the bases, but who knows what it could be. Meniscus, MCL? Not sure. We'll find out soon. Heathcott gets a much deserved promotion, but even if he sets the world afire, he won't be able to replace Ells significant contribution. He's been awesome this yr

If I'm Cashman I'd swing a deal with the Padres. I'd deal off Garret Jones, Rookie Davis, and Diego Moreno for Jedd Gyorko and cash. Why the Padres should do it: They can shed salary in Gyorko who has been horrible and signed long term. Jones could get more playing time with Alonso hurt and he's probably better suited to pinch hit. They get a solid arm in Davis who could bloom into a 3rd starter for an NL team. Moreno throws gas and is putting up good numbers in Triple-A. Why the Yankees should do it: They can dream on Gyorko and hope he can regain some of his shine. I'd like to see the Padres pay $3 million in 2019, $2 million in 2018, and $1 million in 2017 of his salary. I'd install Gyorko in Triple-A for a few weeks and then bring him up. Yankees can take the extra salary and not even bat an eye.

I love when fans advocate trades for players that suck.

Our pitching just got buttf***ed. Our defense has been atrocious. We can't hit until we're down. This team is in a free fall. Tanaka and Nova might come back to a lost cause.

We have a -36 run differential in our last 10 games and that includes our lone win by 4 runs. In our last 9 losses, we have a run differential of -40. And that doesn't account for the fact that we gave up 10 runs yesterday but somehow managed 9. We were doing well with our full team. Tanaka goes down and we start to stumble. Ellsbury goes down and we fall down the f***ing tubes. There are gonna be some heads a rolling here

Slade is doing well, I hope they keep giving him ABs. Jacob pitched alright in his first inning. You can tell he was a little amped up, which I don't have a problem with being it was his first game. Yankees have a few young guys we can get excited about, even though we are losing, it's exciting to watch. I hope they give Ref a chance at 2B soon and if Cappy shits the bed one more time... Bryan Mitchell for the 5th starter slot.

Slade showed no power in the minors and he slugs the ball in a short stint here. I like his tools, but he's more rookie Gardner than Ells. I wish they'd give Pirela more run. And I'd like to see Refsnyder up ASAP. I know Drew tagged a meaningless homer, but he's been abysmal. Gregorius has been a disaster as well.

LOL. I heard reports that the mound was an issue and they had the grounds crew working on it a bunch. Regardless, his velo yesterday was way down compared to his prior start. Not sure what is up with that. That being said, his next appearance in the minors should be home. No excuses. If he goes out there and is throwing 86mph again, he's gotta get operated on. And with Tanaka being far from a sure thing to return and Nova at least a month out, we gotta look for a top of the rotation type pitcher. Love what we are seeing out of Pineda. Eovaldi and Warren were lights out in their most recent turns, and I don't want to see them out of the rotation. But CC and Capuano have been boiling cesspools of human decay. I would love to see what Mitchell could do. He's got Eovaldi's type stuff with a huge fastball and a good curve, but he lacks Eovaldi's command. Then I would like to see some acquisition. In a perfect world, it would be Hamels. But in the real world, it could be a McCarthy type acquisition from a non contending team. Edited by jacksonianmarch

Girardi still thinks CC is pitching like its 2009. Wtf? Dude is walking a tightrope every time he's out there. After 5, have the pen ready. Guy dominates through 5. Gives up a game tying HR in the 6th. At that point, you just count your blessings and move on. But no, he leaves him in to put two batters on in the seventh which eventually score as winning runs. f***ing A

Girardi actually did his job last night and pulled CC before he could lose the game entirely, and look at that, we won! CC is still relevant two times through the order. He gets absolutely murdered the third time through. No point in pushing it. He's a shell of himself. Consider him the #5 and have him throw 5IP a start.

Eovaldi is so maddening. He completely dominates a good lineup then walks 3 of 4 in the 6th. The kid has insane stuff and is developing a splitter. Hoping he can harness his s*** as the year goes on.

That was a bit more excitement than I hoped for out of the ninth, but a win is a win. Rogers is probably on his way to a DFA. We have 5 lefties in our pen, but we also have a lot of righties in AAA who are big league ready with top notch stuff. Time to stop the garbage with Rogers. Cap can be the long man, bring up Burawa

CC with a solid outing. Liked the fire he showed today, hopefully he can take that into his next start. It's about time things started to click for us, Pineda gets a day of rest too.

It seems Eovaldi's biggest issue is despite having a 96mph average fastball his spin rate is so unremarkable in either direction. Low-spin fastballs tend to get higher ground-ball rates, and high-spin fastballs generally result in more swings-and-misses. Fastballs work best at the extreme edges of spin rates, not quietly in the middle. Like you mentioned though developing that splitter would certainly help alot aswell.

CC, Pineda, and Nate are top 10 in BABIP this year. Just some bad luck for three our of SPs.
