I love Truck Day. I start my count down to my ST trip. Warm weather, beaches and Red Sox baseball. Sounds miserable. LOL!!

I would like to live that expirience. Have fun my friend.

When you say Spring games, does that mean all the way to the middle of June? I'll tell you this Pal from some frozen experiences, 6pm games are not that much warmer than 7pm games in April or the beginning of May. If these games go into June that might be a welcome change. Have you any info how long these 6pm games go?

It looks like it's just for April at the moment. The westher here is very hit or miss in June. It can be fairly cool and rainy. Imo, the best weather is July - September.

I had similar experiences except I started following the Bruins more closely during the Bobby Orr era. I could watch practically every game on channel 38. Of course it was a fuzzy UHF picture that required a lot of twisting and turning of that little round antenna that was attached to the back of the television.

Are you from Massachusetts? I graduated from Masconomet in 1971.

norway - God bless Ernie Banks. I can just barely remember him playing.

I really like the 6pm start time. It fits in nicely with my pre-summer 10 pm bed time.

Wish I could make it to 10 but this change will help.

You know Israel, I just had a wild hair of an idea. Maybe it might not fly this season since some have already started making plans but would it be in the realm of possibility if someone or a few people on this board helped to schedule a weekend where a slew of posters on this board could meet in Boston and take in either a game or two or a series and really get to know each other. Of course, we'd have to take into consideration of how many games a person could afford since he might have a high mortgage, other mouths to feed, paying off college debts or not working full time. I really think we could make a real go of it........or am I dreaming. Hey friends, weigh in. Is this within the realm of possibility? You could bet that if it got off the ground I would be making travel plans the next day.

I think that this is a great potential idea. It would be fun. Worth going back to the ballpark for. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they write on a board like this. I think for many this would be a fun thing to do. For instance - you are not the kind of person who needs it or would take it if offered but even though I have never met you, I would fly your little hindquarters right up to the park and back on me.

Yes you do have me by a few years age wise but it is a very unique thing this age. I don't feel it, I don't look it, and I don't act it.

Wow, I thought I was bad going to bed at 10.

Are you one of those guys who is up at like 3 am?

It sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, for a multitude of reasons, I would probably be unable to make it. I have always thought it would be cool to meet the people that you've known on a forum.

You're right CP. And it would be money well spent and worth it for me to ante up the bucks for such a trip. There are a lot of people here I would love to meet and talk baseball with man to man (and women too, absolutely), and the only problem I see right now is that a couple of people in the Boston area would have to honcho it, more like four or five people since they had access to the Red Sox front office and tickets to the games. Hell, I wouldn't even care what game they were for as long as I could meet some of my buddies and near buddies on this board. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind meeting User Name either---would really welcome it.

Nope - toss and turn - wake up - go back to sleep- crawl out usually 5:45. Should be in Florida but I am not for numerous reasons. Life sucks but it really doesn't . one of those kind of guys. The officially retired Male.

I am absolutely sure that you would like that. One thing I like about you even though I don't know you is that you are genuine. I'm pretty sure that you don't hide behind the computer. Say what you mean what you say - a little bit of a dieing breed. I like that.

My friend what do you celebrate in Truck day, what is behind of this? Is it exclusively for the Boston Red Sox.?

I've noticed in social media that today is truck day, isn't it?... But I have no idea what it is about.

Truck day! Woohoo!!

The Red Sox have built a culture that encourages players to head to Spring Training a few weeks early. It seems like it started with Lester who fought to be the first one in camp every year. I'm glad to see Porcello and others continue the trend. After a last place season, hopefully these guys are getting ready to go.

Back when the team were still losers and the bandwagon was empty, newscameras would film the equipment trucj leaving Fenway and heading to FL. It was a sign of spring during winter. It was the gift of hope that maybe this would finally be THE year.

It was just a cute 30 second clip they'd show on the news. Now it's just something the ownership has beaten into the ground and made it more than it ever was.

It has been snowing for 25 days straight, and the Red Sox haven't had a winning record since 2013. I'll take what I can get :P

All I was trying to do was explain truck day. Before the pink hats, no one but newscameras would go to see the truck off. Wally was able to stay in hibernation back then. Now it's an event that people go to. It never used to be that way.

No offense taken or anything. Whatever the motives, it is a nice break to keep our minds on the Sox.

It's like groundhog day for Red Sox fans, except that the truck never sees its shadow signaling more of winter.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought that all teams celebrate the truck day, I even thought that it was a day when you (all Americans) celebrate for some reason trucks haha. Again.. thanks for the explanation.

I've always wondered and thought that transporting equipment like that was kind of silly and digressive. Sure, the stuff costs money, but to an MLB team in a major market, the cost of equipment for the training facilities would be but a drop in the bucket.

LOL the Red Sox have a green monster truck :P

Anything that keeps our minds on the Red Sox stands tall with me, but to tell the truth I am getting tired of downloading my DVD's of 2004, 2007 and 2013 to get my Red Sox fix. They all have happy endings but it's nice to hear something about the here and now. Besides, the only other baseball fix I can get out here in So. Cal is that 24 Hour Dodger station and that is like getting a two-by-four shot to the gut.
