He could still get a shot to start then move to the BP if it doesn't work. Which would allow them to shop at the TDL.

I wouldn't expect a #1 unless Farrell's planning to send Kelly to the bullpen.

I'm not impressed with the rotation, and it looks like we'll take the risk and wait for August.

Maybe it is lower than it could have been at some other time. But I believe that if Buch is seen as healthy that a bunch of people would want him. He's cheap, too.

Absolutely love the moves in response to the Lester news. Sox FO is not sitting around lamenting what could have been. Stockpiling solid inning eating arms now and still have more than enough $$$$ and prospects to make an even bigger move this offseason.

I think they'll get a staff anchor. Who it is, i have no clue.

 

But right now, i think the rotation would be:

 

Signed for/traded for #1

Porcello

Masterson

Miley

Buchholz

I hope that they trade for Hamels. Even if they pick up his option it's still 5/110. Which will be cheaper than what Sheilds will get on the open market plus the draft pick.

 

We still need our #1. Today has started out fast and furious.

It is if they can complete the rotation with a top level type guy. If they don't, it may backfire.

Ben seems to have a fetish for ground balls, which isn't a bad thing. I hope he doesn't sign Masterson as the final SP. Need at least 1 guy who you can expect to be good, and not a bunch of guys you hope might be good. Porcello's career numbers are not at all impressive but at least he is trending in the right direction. Miley had a very good rookie season but has gotten worse since. His walk rate is especially concerning, 1.7 to 2.9 to 3.4. That's completely atypical of a young pitcher. Don't know what to make of that.

 

 

Edit: As I typed this, I see Sox have signed Masterson. smdh. With all these ground ball pitchers, I fully expect Ben's next move is to sign Stephen Drew and move Bogaerts to the OF.
