Call it a night guys and gals and hope for better tomorrow. What the hell can any of us say at the moment. We're all singing the blues.

I'd like Drew back too. But it seems pretty unlikely now. If they sign him now they get a rusty player and they still lose the draft pick. Plus we don't know how much he and Boras are asking for.
We would lose a draft pick for retaining our own player? Also, I thought that the draft pick would not be an issue after May. Weare less than 2 weeks from June.

Well, we would gain a draft pick if another team signs him before the draft. If nobody signs him before the draft we don't get a draft pick. So it's becoming less and less of an issue.

With two weeks to go, no one is going to sign Drew. The only reason the Sox didn't bring him back already is because he wants a multi year deal.

You're right, the draft pick is no longer an issue. Is any team going to give him a multi year deal though?

nice to see Xander hitting his 1st HR at Fenway. Though he's been robbed a few by the monster to left center. His 25% line drive is excellent, compare to just 40% groundball. A lot of his groundball are hit hard as well. He has good plate discipline. And he is only 21. Only time will tell if his glove will be good or average.

XB will make it in the Bigs as a starting player. What remains to be seen is his ceiling. WMB is another story. I am not sure that WMB is a big league starting player. How much rope do we give this guy while we also have a SS and CFer learning the ropes? Bradley is a big league fielder and eventually will probably do enough of offensively to justify being a starter. If we are going to carry a substandard bat into the future, it is imperative to upgrade the lineup somewhere else. We need to be mindful that Ortiz will not be here forever and right now, he is our offense. Last season, he had a supporting cast of Ells, Naps, Pedroia, and Victorino. This year, the supporting staff is stripped down to Pedroia, Naps, and Victorino. All the rest are meh, and unless 1 or 2 of the kids get on track and start producing, we don't have enough offense to provide the consistent results to be successful.

This is a good point. Giving three newbies a chance all at once may have been too much of a leap in one offseason, especially after a WS victory. For one its a bit unfair to the veterans who want to ride the wave THEY started but also the pressure to perform on the newbies, because of the WS victory, is that much more beyond the normal pressure a rookie would feel.

Why is Lackey throwing so much fastball this year?

Who is the happy woman in the first row of the stands... Lackey's ex?
