As a side note, I'm seeing reports that Rajai Davis will sign soon. Reports are that it's between the Orioles and Red Sox.

Really hoping it's the Sox. If they can get Rajai and Drew, I call it an offseason.

I seen that the Twins have offered him a multi year deal. So i say he is going there instead.

Tigers are the frontrunners right now. Man, the Red Sox must really have some faith in Bradley.

Gutierrez seems like the next option on the list. He would fill a similar role, and could be a lightning in a bottle type. A few short years ago, he was nearly was a 20/20 guy in Seattle with top notch defense in CF. Doesn't it seem like we see a TON of RHH come from Seattle to Boston and explode? Mike Carp and Adrian Beltre come to mind immediately.

Mike Carp is a LHH.

Hearing that the Angels could be getting Skaggs and Cahill for Trumbo.

This is mind boggling. I cannot comprehend how the free agent market for starting pitchers is so horrible yet the trade market for SP (after the Fister deal and now potentially this deal) is so insanely weak.

If that's the type of return were looking at for a starter, no thank you, I'll keep my depth.

Skaggs got several shots with the big club last year and spit the bit each and every time. Maybe they suspect that he will not live up to his big prospect tag. As for Cahill, he had one very good year, but other than that, he has been a #4 or 5 starter type. I think that it is a pretty fair trade.

The rumors are full of crap. Davis signed with the Tigers. You never know what's going to happen at these meetings.
With Davis off the table, who else could be an OF target for the Sox?

I saw the Angels GM on MLB TV, and was unimpressed. Looks like a high school kid. Didn't seem all that bright. No wonder the Angels are underperforming. Signing downhill FAs long term and neglecting pitching. Owner doesn't have a lot of baseball smarts, either.

What about this kid Hassan, in Pawtucket. RHB, high OBP/Avg last year, Duke grad. Listed as left fielder. Can he play defense?

Hazelbaker down there stole a bunch of bases, but lower avg, OBP.

Except that that's exactly what the rumors said smh.

I thought that Hazelbaker was out of the organization. Didn't he go to play in japan?

I believe Hassan is really a 1b. And he does have some real upside. Not a ton of power, but very good OBP skills.

Cafardo said in an interview they are happy with what they have. He said there is always the chance they will do something big--like Kemp--if the opportunity develops.

Gutierez is a guy I brought up yesterday. Before he got hurt, he showed 20/20 type potential with top notch center field defense, and a RH bat. He also had the limitations of playing in Seattle. He's definitely a lightning-in-the-bottle type, but he did put up 6 WAR in a season once.

And he's always been a positive-WAR guy his whole career. Seems like a very useful player to have on the team.

Who do you replace him on the 25 man roster with?

If the season started today, the red sox bench would consist of Gomes, Ross, Carp, and utility free agent. I'm assuming that Carp would be moved if the sox signed another OF.

Let me step in with a crack or two on my own. When it was intimated in the LA Times yesterday that the Angels might just have to slug their way to a title I said to myself how could a team be so full of s*** as that one is? You don't slug yourself to any title. You better have the pitching and solid defense or you'll be on Shitpile Blvd. They tried to win on the pitching cheap this season and it got them nowhere. Now they got a couple of pitchers in the trade with Arizona and both of them seem to have languished and stagnated. It is what happens when you put oddles of cash on a couple of sluggers to the neglect of the most important commodity in the game--PITCHING!!!!!. You're right; their GM, DiPoto is a second rater and he and Scioscia have clashed the past two seasons and one of them, or both might have to go.

Yet there is a caution sign to throw up here Sox Sport. The Red Sox went from the outhouse to the penthouse in one season, and it is hard to find a team that was much shittier than we were in 2012. It wouldn't surprise me if two or more of this year's underclass are battling for playoff spots next season. The Red Sox showed it could be done.

I always liked Angell. But he did piss me off in '86 when he revealed that the Red Sox were his second-favorite team, after the f'king Mets.

Well Bellhorn, are you pissed off at me too because in 1986 the Mets were my team too----and were until I had the epiphany at Fenway Park on that great August 19th day in 2000. You'll like this one though. When I see tapes of that WS' sixth game that the Red Sox blew nowadays on TV I cringe and turn it off----and I was rooting against the Red Sox then. Now I can't even watch it. And RSFFL one believed I could not be a Red Sox fan. Crazy mixed up kid.

Stop needling people incessantly over s*** that happened months ago.

Incessantly my ass!!!!! This is only the second time I have raised that issue about RDFFL and if you are honest with yourself you would admit that his saying I was not a Red Sox fan was about as dumb and idiotic a thing that he or anyone else could say, but since you didn't I did. As for this one, it was not needling, just a reminder that we all have a tendency to make ridiculous statement.....RSFFL, me and YOU!!!! And stop acting like the thought police. There was no harm intended, more of a humorous poke.

Also, you do do the incessant needling thing mind you. The whole "i'm wealthy because i'm usually online" s*** got old the first time, and you made like 10 posts about it. I have a laptop, tablet, and phone, and they all have internet. Let it go.

Please quit reminding us and/or rubbing it in our faces that you were not a Red Sox fan (prior to 2001 for whatever reason). It makes my stomach hurt. Especially when you can't let go of 2011-2012, can't stop s***ing on Tito and the ownership.

We've won 3 WS in your fandom time. Mine too. But we've been there and done that for our ENTIRE LIVES. Please give it a rest.

Thanks.
