Think Nap and Uehara may have a bit extra to play for this WS??

They were both on the Rangers in 2011. In the World Series. Against the Cardinals.

Yeah. They'll be locked in.

Oh, a Victorino grand slam. Give that man a belly rub.

You're going to be up to a crate of dildos by the time the WS is over.

This team has more chemistry and character than any I've ever seen. This may not be the "best" Red Sox team ever, but it may be my favorite Red Sox team ever.

This is The Impossible Dream Team II...and this time they win the WS.

Koji is the ALCS MVP, but we also need to credit Breslow and Tazawa too, they pitch well. Tazawa seems to always get the ball when someone gets on base. Did he even get into a game that had nobody on in the playoff?

Great game, great series. I missed most of the game because it was the wife's birthday and I took her to Zombie Walk in Fort Collins, CO. I caught the ending from right after Shane's GS until high five city. So excited for the WS.

You have a cool wife.

I don't think Koji can be much more dominant than he already is.

I really do. She also watches every game with me and gets as excited about the Sox as I do.

Every single Sox home run in a postseason game from now on should be shopped with that image.

Just photoshop upside down torri and celebrating cop in various locations around the world

Yup--Impossible Dream all right. Except no Gibson this time. That will make it easier.

They're lucky they don't have to play in NY. No mysterious home calls--like the one that just beat the Patriots. Not that Brady & Co didn't suck. Except to the MF Jets? Embarrassing.

No embarrassment at Fenway. Get the broom out--again. Remember '04.

Koji finally gets deserved recognition. AL Championship series MVP.

3 saves, 2 of them legitimately man-sized ones. One win. He has been the best reliever in baseball this season. And his success (and frankly that of the entire ALCS/NLCS closer group) does prove that you just don't know where your closers are going to come from. We're lucky to have found him for this season.

Cards are a well rounded team. This is not the mismatch the 2004 World Series was. I'm picking the Cards, reverse jinx hello. But the Red Sox have won every way possible ... including with grand slams from hitters who did virtually nothing the other 5+ games.

Think of the *******s that have been eliminated from going to the big series, a-roid, peralta, torri, the entire rays team, Crawford, AGon. I can't stop smiling.

Serious question. Have any of you ever considered calling out to watch the Red Sox win the World Series? I have never called out of my job which I worked at for almost 2 years now. I am well liked from everyone. I don't think if I call out, my managers would question me. I'd lose about 10 hours that week and would screw over my co worker pretty bad. It's not professional at all, but I just want to know if anyone else would do it. Since you guys also pay bills and have other responsibilities. My luck for picking up morning shifts will eventually run out.

You are a responsible young man. Let your conscience be your guide in this situation.

An enormous decision will have to be made by Farrell once the Sox head to St. Louis. He has to decide whether to put Napoli or Ortiz at first. If you put Ortiz at first, you are losing something defensively. If you put Nap at first, you are losing Ortiz's bat. I would personally put Napoli at catcher because he is an offensive upgrade over Ross and Salty and Napoli can have both Ross and Salty go over pitch selection in the dugout because they will know who will be batting the following half inning. What do you guys think? I think it would make sense to put Nap at catcher since his body has had the least amount of stress on it over his whole career so far.

I just put Napoli on the bench and Ortiz at first. Papi can handle a glove and Napoli isn't going to suddenly catch in the World Series when he hasn't done it all year.

During 04, I was working 2-10pm and didn't call out. I even missed most of game 1 to go see Social Distortion.

I wouldn't call out everyday, but doing so in a WS clincher should be fine. Don't overthink banging out for a day every now and again. It's not the end of the world.

I think if we play all 3 of the games in St. Louis, Papi will start two and Naps will start one.

Unless Papi is still slumping and Nap stays hot.

It's not that enormous a decision - probably will be Ortiz and/or Napoli ... and I imagine current form will dictate some of that. AL has an advantage in the World Series (a small one) ... since their first pinch hitter is a starting DH, while in the AL park the NL team is putting a designated pinch hitter as the DH. Just an imbalance which makes that position an AL edge.

The Cards have a bunch of tough right handed starters and no lefties. I think that it is a no-brainer that Ortiz should play all 3 games in St. Louis, regardless ofwho is hot. Ortiz is the far superior hitter and heis left-handed. Napoli should e a PHer those games.

That is possible - I think it might end up being based on current form ... Ortiz was scuffling in the Tigers series. Fortunately with the WS starting in Boston, we can figure out if he is locked in again.

My curiosity will be about the rest of the roster ... to me, no reason to carry 11 pitchers in this series. With the games in the NL park, I'd drop Morales for Lavarnway - some extra pinch-hitting and another catcher.

Normally I'd agree, but Napoli just homered off two very tough righties in Verlander and Sanchez. He was arguably our biggest threat for the last 4 games of the ALCS. Hard to see him sitting down for 3 straight games.

Tough call either way.
