It leaves no room for error, and when the team is playing like crap it's not smart. The pitcher could throw a bad pitch and walk in a run.

They do it to increase the likelihood of a DP and cause a force out at home. With 0-1 outs, they'll almost always walk the man. With 2, they would be less likely to do so.

Nava is as good a hitter as Pedroia this year. Look at the numbers.

"Ground-rule double" needs a cooler name.

Pedey plays every day against everybody. Nava does not. If he did, the top line numbers would not be close. You need to look past the top line numbers to see what both players are really doing but he is used in a way does not often expose his weaknesses. Nava is having a wonderful year and I love the guy. But he does not deserve to get consideration as Pedey's equal at the plate.

Yeah I understand the conventional wisdom, I just don't like it. And I understand I'd be in the minority if not alone in my thought. To me it'd be as smart as walking the first batter in each inning to increase the chance of a double play. And it increases the odds of stuff going really bad for the defense.

Royals in the playoffs would be the most hilarious thing ever. They've been hot garbage pretty much my whole life.

Nothing since George Brett. I think they traded Mike Sweeney that one year just to see if they would get mentioned in the local paper.

Why do we still have Thornton.. and why is he warming up..

Pitch count. He's not as bad as you people make him out to be.

Thornton should be saved for the exciting two game Rockies series. Hell, I don't care if he starts both games just don't use him when we're trying to sweep the yankoffs on a Sunday night game.

Jesus, how fat a man does John Kruk intend on being?

He's trying for a side job as the Goodyear blimp. He's gonna self-propel using his own bowel movements.

He is going to force espn to go with a two man broadcast team if they keep using him.
