Things only seem to get better. The Rays lost tonight and we now have an 8.5 lead in the division. We already got the series win, but I want more. Lets sweep these punks, then take care of the Rays. Lester in six straight games has allowed 3 or fewer runs. Can't say the same for Kuroda. We kicked his ass last time he faced us, and has been only getting worse. Even had trouble beating up on the White Sox, LOL. I have a good feeling about this one.

Nice grills, Kuroda.

If we win all 4 then we basically pay them back for both 2006 and that April game from last year in the same series. Do want.

Plus, the way they're going, a 4 game sweep could leave New York so demoralized that the gates will be open for more ass kicking next weekend.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about this. I don't like the direction this is going.

Brief update on Jacoby Ellsbury

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff September 7, 2013 10:49 PM

NEW YORK — Jacoby Ellsbury is in Colorado tonight and will get a second opinion on his foot from Dr. Thomas Clanton at the Steadman Clinic in Vail on Sunday.

“My understanding is … there’s no long-term concern here,” general manager Ben Cherington said before the game this afternoon. “It’s really about how do we best manage it over the course of the next several weeks hopefully, and hopefully he can play a lot in those several weeks.”

The testing is being done to determine whether Ellsbury has a fracture in his foot. Obviously that would keep him out longer than a bone bruise or inflammation.

Worth noting: If the Red Sox win the division, their first playoff game would not be until Oct. 4. That's nearly a month of time for Ellsbury to heal. But first the Sox have to determine what exactly is wrong with him.

I really like the way Lester's pitched his last few starts. Shutout the Dodgers, then took a loss to the O's but still pitched pretty well, then out dueled Scherzer. That was key. He wasn't sharp, but got out of trouble when he needed to against a very good offense. The Tigers offense is superior to the Skanks, so he should have a pretty easy time.

I'll be splitting my time today between Sox and NFL.

On August 24 the Sox were tied for the AL East lead.

On September 7 they were 8.5 games ahead.

Am I dreaming here?

This is pure awesome. You could hardly have scripted the last couple of weeks better. Well, OK, you'd have skipped the part about Ellsbury fouling the ball off his foot, but other than that it's been a beautiful stretch of baseball.

Is Shane just getting a day off?

I think Lester wants to work quickly today, and he was afraid that if Naps and Victorino were in the lineup, the top halves of the innings would take too long. So he asked Farrell to arrange things so the Sox stay under 20 runs. Makes sense.

Nava RF

At least there's not too much right field for Nava to patrol in the Toilet. Just about 15-20 feet of grass between the basepaths and the warning track, or so it seems.

It's not. Pats play away vs a s***** Bills team and it's only the first week. The Red Sox are close to sweeping the Yankees and it's almost the end of the season. I'm super excited for football too(yes, even as a Chargers fan) but football won't get much attention from me. At least not until we're through with the playoffs.

162 games at 3-5 hours vs 16 games at 3.5 hours

Football is a little bit higher on the radar, especially since the Sox are running away with the division.

If the Sox were playing the Marlins, I'd agree. We're not only running away from the division, but in position to sweep the Yankees. I get what you're saying and I do agree football is higher on the radar. I just think between the Red Sox sweeping the Yankees vs road game week 1, I'd choose the Red Sox.

I know we've already taken the first 3 and the series, but the lineup looks weak with no Ellsbury, Victorino, or Napoli.

Oh well, guess Lester will just have to throw a gem, win this one 5-2.

You are correct sir. Probably why we don't see eye to eye on this. Hope your pats win the division, I'm about to commit robbery on so many dolphins fans.

I hope the Chargers move to a city that will actually support them!

With the level of balls the Yankees have been sucking lately, Julio Lugo could go 3-5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI against them.

I hope the Jets become a team that is actually good. Looks like we're both out of luck.
