Back to back gut punches for the Yankees. They needed a sweep. At minimum, they needed to take 3 of 4 to stay in the hunt for the Wild card. The next two games don't matter. The Yankees are finished.

The Yankees were on an epic hot streak until they found themselves head to head with the buzzsaw that is the 2013 Boston Red Sox. Now they suddenly find themselves in the middle of a losing streak.

The guy is a strike machine. They do need somebody to back him up. Dempster makes sense. He can probably throw hard for an inning or so. Has closed with the Cubs. Tazawa needs a DL rest.

And they have a good chance to beat the Tigers for the AL pennant if Buchholz comes back. Verlander is not 100% and their bullpen is weak.

I don't think the Rays series is important for the division now. Now the Sox are working on who they can knock out of the WC. I would not spend much more effort burying the Spanks. They are done. Even if they survived based on the numbers, they are losing too many guys from their pitching and they are just too old...just like we said they were when the season started. Rest some guys tomorrow, switch off and rest some others on Sunday. Get ready for the next series.
