What is more important ... winning a game or hitting AROD?

The Eck's verdict: dumb...we're trying to beat the Yankees here...should have just moved on after the first pitch behind A-Rod...made no sense that he wasn't ejected...total embarrassment when A-Rod juiced him 450 feet to dead central.

Best part of Eck's comments...it's not like he's Bob Gibson, who would plunk a guy to start the inning and then strike out the side.

Dumpster has fallen from hero status?

That really bothered you didn't it? You mentioned it in one of your several rants about the situation.

I have never disliked too many public figures as much as A-Rod. Extremely strong dislike that started in July 2004. So the moment Dempster hit him, he was my hero and I was as happy as all the fans at Fenway who cheered like we had just won the World Series. Afterward, he didn't get the job done and contributed to our loss and fell out of hero status.

No, what bothered me is that when Dempter was having a stinker of a game you were reprimanding posters for pointing out that he was s***ing on himself.

I didn't mind people criticizing his poor performance. Just so f***ing tired of the "Dumpster" crap.

It was also annoying to some of us that people cheered Dempster's stupid, pointless and selfish act that was against the interest of the team, but no one told you to shut it.

Who did I tell to shut it?

Not cool brash still not cool.

Yeah, that's equivalent to shut it. Disagreeing with someone's post and telling them to shut up are two different things.

When disagreement takes the form of dismissive disapproval, it is the equivalent to a "shut up".

What's this about Dempster having a drinking problem? He belongs in the bullpen, anyways. Was Cubs closer for several years. He certainly didn't belong pitching against NY the 3rd game of that series.

The braintrust on the Red Sox (if you want to call it that) has to stop thinking about the future, because the future is now. For example, they should have recognized their weakness against LHP much sooner, as was pretty obvious, and done something about it. Instead, they sat on their heels and let the Yankees get Soriano and Reynolds. Is Gomes better than Soriano? Not against LHP. In this situation, you think 2 months--not next year. And then there's the obvious platoon situation at SS, with Drew hitting around .200 against LHP. Bogaerts waiting in the wings... and waiting.

When it comes to aggressiveness and timing, Cashman runs rings around Cherington, who probably needs five alarm clocks to wake up in the morning.

Wrong again. Dismissive disapproval does not equal shut up. But keep on arguing because we all know you are never wrong and when you are wrong you won't admit it. If anyone other than me had post what I posted you'd let it go. You can't help yourself when it comes to my posts. It's so obvious and predictable. And that's too bad for you.

VA, did you ever turn that guy down for a date or something? Jeez... Either that or he has some severe personality disorder. He sure loves holding onto that grudge against you. So pathetic.

I have been avoiding confrontation with you for some time despite several provocations and attacks. I didn't attack you or provoke you this time. In response to a post of yours that was critical of Dempster's actions, I simply asked you if he had fallen from hero status for you. That got your panties in a bunch. I have had enough of this for today. Have a nice day.

BTW, I am wrong plenty of times -- just not when arguing with you. ;)

Rich coming from you. How many jobs have you quit because your boss is a dick? It's always your boss's fault. Maybe you have a personality disorder. Edited by a700hitter

:D God no. He just has it out for me. I've been pretty cordial to him lately. Putting an end to that.

You are ripping Cherington for not acquiring Mark Reynolds? Are you serious? He can only play 3b or 1b. And they filled 3b with Middlebrooks, who has done well since his recall. So that leaves 1b. Let's compare 2013 numbers:

2013 Overall

Napoli: 411 ab, .246/.337/.438/.775, 109 ops+, 15 hr, 69 rbi

Reynolds: 335 ab, .215/.309/.383/.693, 96 ops+, 15 hr, 48 rbi

2013 vs. LHP

Napoli: .246/.343/.418/.761

Reynolds: .232/.344/.446/.790

I mean, Napoli has been better overall this year, and Reynolds has been marginally better over a very small sample size (131 pa for Reynolds, 140 pa for Napoli) against left-handed pitchers.

So that's not an upgrade at all, and it's not worth replacing either Middlebrooks or Napoli with Reynolds.

Yeah, just easier to ignore his nonsense. It's not like he provides any value here anyway.

No more Mr. Nice Guy for you toward me? Uh oh. Have at it. I will not retaliate.

You can't ignore me. LOL!! The fact that you jumped in on this is proof positive of that. :)
