Today we face one of God's ugliest creations of all time...Aaron Harang.

Felix Doubront 5-3, 4.11 ERA

Rays are on our ass! Lets make a little wiggle room before the break.

David Ortiz goes deep, Nava goes deep. 8-1 redsox

According to Baseball Reference, the most similar pitcher to Harang is Bronson Arroyo. Clearly it doesn't account for Hair Above Replacement.

Harang got DFA'd a few days ago. It's going to be Erasmo Ramirez vs Doubront.

EDIT: Nevermind. That was Bonderman that got DFA'd and will be replaced by Ramirez in tomorrow's game.

Or the other kind of WAR: Weight Above Replacement

Well I would put the Sox chance of taking three in Oakland at about 0. I would be totally thrilled if they just took the series there.

I said yesterday that if we won that game after being down 5-1, we wouldn't lose again before the ASB. I stand by that.

So do I. The A's will be a fun series.

I think it's just about winning games and series at this point. I'd love to keep pace on the road and really win games at home, but then again I'm not picky about which games we win, just win. And get healthy, make trades, sign draft picks etc.

The A's are playing good baseball right now and their pitching is tough. I think the Sox starters for the weekend are Lackey, Lester, and to be announced. Of those three Lackey is the only one pitching consistently right now (Never thought I would be saying that) so the thought of a Sox sweep is not looking promising. If we can end up 5 and 5 on this west coast trip I would sign up for that. The Rays schedule gets harder after the All-Star break. They are now playing a weak part of their schedule: Pale Sox, Twins and Astros. So if the Sox can hold them off going into the break they will be in better shape.

We need to get some arms. Wright and Beato are not depth. They are garbage.

Don't shoot the messenger, shoot Farrell/Cherington.

Webster and Aceves to Pawtucket for Steven Wright and Pedro Beato.

After the BP got emptied last night, I expected moves, but those two........ehh?

i just saw a photo of Harang and have decided to take a Mohammed Ali approach to this thing. Harang is just too ugly to be good. GO SOX!

Sounds like even with the recent better news on Buch...(throwing without pain) best guess at a return to the rotation is end of July. Sure did not sound like a two month absence when this all started but I guess that is going to be about one week short of that at best!

He pitches like an ace when he is healthy. He just can't take the ball enough times to be considered an ace.

Aceves still in purgatory--even with the staff short. They are just punishing themselves. You would think all of their organizational problems last year were Aceves' fault.
