I know Bradford does not think so but I still say Lackey is throwing harder post surgery. OK so he likely did throw 94 previous but multiple 95 mph FBs'???

Well I suppose with 2 outs that was an OK gamble by Butterfield. Scoring from first though....I don't know....I would like to have seen Napoli get a shot. One run in the 1st inning of this game is probably not that big a deal.

I wonder if you can just plain earn such a reputation for going all the time that teams really hustle the ball back to the infield every play cause they are no longer guessing that you might go...they are just about sure you are going to try it.

That is a pretty normal number (23) for a new guy like Snyder. The Sox have not given him something like the ever popular number 68.

The past 4 Sox to wear 23: Ciriaco, Valencia, Lillibridge and Byrd.

Not exactly murderers row.

That is a long way for a guy like Naps to go to get to a baseball.

Couple squib hits are all the Padre's have to this point. Sox need to put up some runs here.

Nice shot by Snyder. Couple feet higher or even toward straight away and that is likely a HR.

Well I do not know about that. It has become such common practice in MLB now to force the defense to cut the ball off and get the sure out on the base runner allowing the run to get home without an attempt at a play there. Just about everybody plays it that way now. I think we have done it twice in this game.

Or as I like to explain it to myself, "This can't be as stupid as it looks".

It is real common with two outs and especially two outs with anybody from 6-9 coming up.

I did not like the running play in the first inning cause I think early in games you want the chance to rally even with two outs. I would have preferred seeing Naps come up with runners on 1st and 3rd and the pitcher pitching from the stretch early in the game even with two outs. I would want to take my chances with that instead of trying to get the runner in from 1st for a single run in the 1st inning.

Atta boy Koji! 3 pages of whining? Good job guys! Red Sox WIN

It'd be foolish to expect anything less.

Didnt catch the game but looks like Lackey had a hell of a performance! Great to see. Socks keep rolling :) this and the Angels series are a good chance to really separate us from the rest of the pack.

The Angels are on their way to their 7th win in a row tonight. I think they are a tougher assignment than the Padres right now.

My friend USER thinks the Angels are non-factor now but they are coming on and their lineup is scary. I really want to just concentrate on the Padres and that is what the Red Sox have to do----one game at a time but we have to admit the win tonight was terrific and Lackey was outstanding. That West Coast trip could be a real head buster but this year the team must be determined to go out there and take care of business and come home from it in first place. It's doable.
