You know, in all the hilarity about Johnson, Dickey, and Wang, I didn't notice until just now that their team is the BJs.

I went to a game in Toronto earlier this year. There was a group of two women a few rows in front of me that had ridiculous amounts of cleavage and between innings would jump up and down chanting with a "We love BJ's" sign. At one point, a few drunk guys in the section started chanting it with them.

Stat of the Day: The Red Sox start the day with a 3.5-game lead in the AL East. It's their largest lead in the division since June 29, 2009.

Notes: The Sox are coming off a two-game sweep of the Rockies. The Jays have won 12 of 14 to get back over .500 after a 10-21 start ... The Sox are 5-4 against Toronto this season ... Lester was 6-0 with a 2.72 ERA in his first nine starts. He is 1-4 with a 7.30 ERA in seven starts since. Lester is 2-0, 2.05 in three starts against the Jays this season. Over 22 innings, he has allowed only five earned runs. Lester is 13-7, 3.61 in 25 career starts against the Jays ... Wang was 54-20 with a 3.79 ERA for the Yankees from 2005-08. Foot and shoulder injuries changed the course of his career from there. He is 8-12 with a 5.83 ERA in 36 major league games since 2009. Wang is 6-6, 4.98 in 16 career appearances against the Sox, the last coming in 2009 ... Ellsbury has an extra-base hit in five consecutive games and has hit safely in 21 of the last 24 games. He is 13 of 30 in the last seven games ... Victorino was 5 for 9 in the Rockies series ... Napoli is 7 of 12 with two doubles, two homers, and 20 RBIs with the bases loaded this season.

I would appreciate a good start by Lester tonight. He needs it, and we need to beat the Jays. Derek Holland already shutout the Yankees and the Orioles could lose, but who knows.

And even the "good" Wang from back then was 6-6 with a 4.98 ERA 1.59 WHIP and .284 BAA in 86.2 innings.

Just keep in mind Stallion who we have on the mound for us tonight. Lester has been s*** warmed over the past six or seven weeks. The fact that we can pick up some more ground on the Yankees makes it important that finally he steps up and pitches a strong game while the offense is hitting on most cylinders. Some pitchers are able to adjust things when their stuff is on the fritz or they are going through some tough times; Lester just seems to fall over the cliff. He is pitching like a candy ass and we need better from him from here on out.

Boy it must be tough on a ML ballplayer especially a pitcher if you cannot tolerate anti-inflamatories. Buch got a stomach ulcer last year taking them. So taking them for this bursa sac issue is likely out of the question. At least they know where Buch is as opposed to looking at him every couple days wondering if he can go.

This almost sounds like trying to throw with the sore neck caused him to favor the injury and resulted in the inflammation.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are a non-factor, but it took a franchise-record winning streak for them to get above .500. They may have dug themselves into a hole too early.

Also, we get that you disagree with people about things, but this passive-agressive dead horse beating is getting old. Confine your oh-so-subtle digs to the specific arguments about them in other threads, there's no reason to bring it into every other thread.

Are the rules different for me? I'll play by the rules if we have them. Otherwise, I hope we win tonight cause you is cranky.

No, I'm sick of everyone doing it. Just because you don't use someone's name doesn't mean you don't intend for everyone to know who you're trying to pick at. Just stop. It's bad enough when these things start stupid volleys of insults, but it's worse when it gets started in a thread where it has no bearing.

I will play by rules if we have them. Frankly, I think you over-reacted on this one, because I couldn't name the specific posters that disagree with me on the issue of the Jays being a factor in the division. It really hasn't been a big topic for nasty disagreement. So there.:D

Btw anyone trying MLB.com Beat The Streak challenge? Pick 57 players you think will get a hit on Friday and if everyone gets a hit, you win 5.6 Million dollars.

Is that a new one? When I did it a couple years ago it was 57 days in a row.
