And to think Erik Bedard used to own the Sox. He sucks now, so let's hammer this chump!

6-3 Red Sox with a 2-run big fly from Thor. You read it here first.

Erik Bedard is 5-4 with a 4.25 ERA in 12 career starts vs. the Sox. I've always been a fan of Bedard, he has a 3.88 career ERA in a lot of innings in the AL East, but he was always hurt.

In addition, he started this year as a reliever so he hasn't thrown many innings in his start, so we may be able to feast on Houston's bullpen even if we don't light Bedard up.

The deck is stacked in our favor for the weekend. Beat the teams that you are supposed to beat and just hold your own against the good teams. That is a good formula to get to the playoffs.

keep it rolling low and slow. i predict a no hitter from Dempster.

I could see that. as for walks, if the Over/Under is 2.5, I will def. take the Over.

Dempster will have more Ks then IP tonight. :)

Red Sox win!

Bring the power-stroke back! (WMB! Ellsbury! Gomes!)

Who's Thor?

In Norse mythology, Thor (from Old Norse) is a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing, healing and fertility. The cognate deity in wider Germanic mythology and paganism was known in Old English as ?unor and in Old High German as Donar, stemming from a Common Germanic (meaning "thunder").

Ultimately stemming from Proto-Indo-European religion, Thor is a prominently mentioned god throughout the recorded history of the Germanic peoples, from the Roman occupation of regions of Germania, to the tribal expansions of the Migration Period, to his high popularity during the Viking Age, when, in the face of the process of the Christianization of Scandinavia, emblems of his hammer, Mj?lnir, were worn in defiance and Norse pagan personal names containing the name of the god bear witness to his popularity. Into the modern period, Thor continued to be acknowledged in rural folklore throughout Germanic regions. Thor is frequently referred to in place names, the day of the week Thursday ("Thor's day") bears his name, and names stemming from the pagan period containing his own continue to be used today.

In Norse mythology, largely recorded in Iceland from traditional material stemming from Scandinavia, numerous tales and information about Thor are provided. In these sources, Thor bears at least fourteen names, is the husband of the golden-haired goddess Sif, is the lover of the j?tunn J?rnsaxa, and is generally described as fierce-eyed, red-haired and red-bearded. With Sif, Thor fathered the goddess (and possible valkyrie) ?r??r; with J?rnsaxa, he fathered Magni; with a mother whose name is not recorded, he fathered M??i, and he is the stepfather of the god Ullr. The same sources list Thor as the son of the god Odin and the personified earth, Fj?rgyn, and by way of Odin, Thor has numerous brothers. Thor has two servants, ?j?lfi and R?skva, rides in a cart or chariot pulled by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnj?str (that he eats and resurrects), and is ascribed three dwellings (Bilskirnir, ?r??heimr, and ?r??vangr). Thor wields the mountain-crushing hammer, Mj?lnir, wears the belt Megingj?r? and the iron gloves J?rngreipr, and owns the staff Gr??arv?lr. Thor's exploits, including his relentless slaughter of his foes and fierce battles with the monstrous serpent J?rmungandr—and their foretold mutual deaths during the events of Ragnar?k—are recorded throughout sources for Norse mythology.

True, I like it vs the pitcher too but it just stinks to have Gomes in the outfield.

2. The Red Sox Resurgence (BOS-HOU)

Thursday night, the Red Sox moved to 4-0 all time against the Astros at Fenway Park. Overall, the teams have met just 10 times, and the Sox are 8-2. The only Astros pitcher to get a win against Boston is Doug Brocail, who did it on back-to-back days in 2008 at age 41. He pitched a combined 2⅓ innings in those games. I don't even know why I'm telling you this, except as a distraction from the fact that Boston is 15-7 and leading the AL East. With a balanced lineup and a solid 1-2 pitching punch with Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester, the situation is starting to get frightening. I have a strong feeling that when Monday rolls around, they'll remain undefeated against Houston at home. And the worst part is that they've got a ragtag bunch of likable misfits. All the poison is gone; it's almost too much to bear.

The poor Astros. Have you ever seen a team so totally lacking in all aspects of the game. Growing up in Connecticut I don't even remember the Mets being this totally talentless. The Stro's can't.....field, can't hit and can't pitch. That is a scary combination. Is there any doubt that Aceves could be a starting pitcher for the Stro's?

With Bedard and Dempster on the hill, this should be a high scoring affair.

Dempster has been a beast so far this year. I don't think that's going to change against the Astros:lol:

Amazing how hitters just do not see Dempster's ball breaking down in the zone....at all. They just do not see it as a pitch likely to be at their shoe tops and even when not at their shoe tops they simply cannot get a read on it. Bats are a mile away from where the ball crosses the plate.
