I don't think baseball will ever be able to switch to electronic strike zones, not for a while yet anyway. It could be done easily now. But a lot of people would despise it.

 

I've heard people say they wouldn't like it... but have not heard one real reason why. "The human element" is not a real reason. It's still humans pitching and hitting. I hear people throw that term around but they never really explain what it means in terms of the game.

 

By using the human element argument I suppose we could do away with the chalk lines and let the officials guess on fair or foul.... wouldn't that increase the human element?

iortiz, possibly Aceves might be better disposed to be a starter than a reliever as I hinted at a few days ago. I have heard he has always wanted to start and maybe when he gets stretched out he can go more than five, but it's great to see the bullpen do the job its doing. Keep in mind that our rotation has broken down at times since the 2005 season, the only time it stayed intact was in 2004 so we might need Aceves to do some spot starting from h ere on in. Now the question is twofold.....Can we get Will and Drew hitting and can we finish the job tomorrow and have Lester help us get another hat trick?
