Being pissed at your wife and pets over a Red Sox game isn't a normal fan reaction. I don't think anyone (aside from scm) questions SBF's fanhood, but that's just wrong.

But an extra treat per sox loss = fat dog. I have enough fat dogs as it is. Too bad being fat doesn't stop them from barking.

Good training stops them from barking haha

Most of mine are rescues and beyond "good training" plus it's in their breed as hunting dogs to bark. And it seems to keep people away, although the town did us no favors by turning the land across the street into a walking park.

Training, lack of exercise and type of breed have more to do with barking than whether or not a dog is a rescue.

Ive played ball from Tee ball all the way through College so I somewhat spectate the games from a players perspective. It absolutely pisses me off when the Sox can preform basic situational hitting.

example:

- runner on 3rd less than 2 outs...put the ball in the outfield, up middle, or right side of the infield. We either K or hit it to 3rd base.

- Runners on 2nd with nobody out LH hitter up and we cant get the ball on the right side to move him over

-missed sac bunts

Its the type of s*** that makes me scream at the TV wonder how these guys make millions when they cant execute routine situational hitting. Tampa Bay has been so successful in recent years because they can execute. They are full of .250 hitters (if that) minus Longo, but when they get on base they do the little things to succeed and win ball games. Its the perfect complement to their excellent pitching staff.

Even if we play better than .500 ?

I understand, my point about them being rescue is that these dogs were so mentally/physically abused by their previous owners that "good training" regarding barking is likely impossible. They are lucky enough just to be alive.

We rescued a crippled dog from a Shelter in West Va. She's an Australian Shepherd/mutt. She is a sweetheart, but she was a little unruly at the beginning, but is great now. However, she is a big barker.

Mine are from all over the place, Kentucky, Ohio, Arkansas, Brooklyn etc Some are blind from animal testing, some were beaten (kicked, stomped), some were shot, debarked, and burned, one was locked in a garage to starve. There are some sick people out there. The majority of mine are beagles, except for a golden retriever/cocker spaniel mix that thinks he's a beagle.

It is unbelievable what peple will do. As for the barking, Beagles are known for their howling.

This made me laugh because we have a 185 lb Great Dane that thinks he's a 4 pound Yorkie.

I used to always have a few beagles. Rabbit hunted with them all the time. I just loved that, miss those dogs and rabbit hunting.

Fred, you're absolutely s***ing on the ignore feature again, but otherwise i feel your pain. Even more so knowing that the two Blue Jays fans i know won't shut the f*** up because they won this weekend series.

I would guess there has to be a lot of you out there who feels my pain as I do theirs and yours. Tossing and turning at night because your beloved team is s***ing the bed is enough to put a damper on what otherwise might have been a nice day. You have the Jays fans to endure USER; out here I now have to listen to the Angels and Dodgers fans who are just thrilled by the fact that our team is now in somewhat the position of theirs.

I have to admit that I was fooled by our start. Fools gold---and if you want to know why I don't post as much the past few days as I did before, be advised that a miserable attitude and outlook shouldn't have to be endured by others who might take things a helluva better than I do. After what happened in Sept, 2011, and all of last year, I wonder if there has actually been a culture of losing that has invaded our team. All I do know for certain is that we had better wake up and start playing solid ball again or this season could be lost.

Fred, you may be somewhat senior to me, but the 30 additional years of fandom have taught me to expect frustration from our Red Sox. Although people think we agree on everything, as Spring Training was ending your fandom was getting the better of your reason. You were upbeat and optimistic about the teams chances. I predicted a 4th place finish (possibly last if things went terribly wrong). The team is in a tailspin right now, but they are doing better than I had expected so it isn't eating me up.

Do yourself a favor. Lower your expectations for this team. I think the best we can expect is a competitive team that will still be in the hunt for the second WC when September rolls around.

Hey Ted, if you were trying to tell me you were more astute in sizing up our team before the season began, you didn't even have to say it.....I knew it then and I know it better now. And being senior to you means nothing since you've been through this a helluva lot more than me, and as much as hate to admit it and give away my supposed maturity, I'm about as juvenile as they come when it deals with the Red Sox. I never thought I would so fall in love with a team again after all those years of wandering, but it has gotten so that I actually get paranoid when I wear my Red Sox shirts and shorts and believe that I'm now being laughed at. Oh, how I would give half of what I own to see our team start totally beating the living s*** out of all our tormentors.

Thanks for the suggestions too my friend. Knowing I have some friends like you on this board take a lot of the sting out of the miserable feelings I have right now.

You don't want the dog to get fat now....

A few laughs are badly needed now Stallion. I can't help but admire how some of you can take this a helluva better than I can. BTW, I always give my dogs goodies and my better half gets mad as hell at me for giving them people food. When we are both eating together all four dogs are almost right in my face and totally ignore the wife. You want to know something bizarre, though? When the Red Sox lost the dogs stay away from me. I think they sense that I am ready to explode.

Well, when he's the runt and newbie, and the other 6 are beagles, then he might assume he's one too. He definitely barks the most. He once growled at his reflection in the mirror.

We have four dogs---a Golden Retriever, a Chihuahua, and two mixes, one a combo of rat terrier-Boston terrier-chihuahua, and the other a duet of Border Collie-Springer spaniel. The fact is my wife can stay up late and watch the 11:00 news; I am a wuss and have to be in bed by 9:30 or I'm not worth s*** the next day. We don't sleep together anymore because I snore and when Linda comes to bed I used to keep her awake. SO----I sleep with three of the dogs and Linda with the other.

Carrying this to an extreme, the dogs do not know us as Linda or Fred. They only respond to mommy and daddy. Well my wife has always said I was weird; not all of you know.

Yup fred losing sucks the big one. But it's why I enjoy the good times and don't sweat the small stuff when things are clicking.

I stand by my prediction though this a WC caliber team. I think April they played above their heads and so far in May have played below. Hopefully over the course of the regular season it levels up and the talent should keep them in it. But ya the roller coaster ride can be rough on the nerves

Well BSN, I can no longer use the tired excuse that I'm new to these things. It is almost 13 years now and I should be able to roll with the highs and lows and I give full credit to you, 700, Stallion, User and the rest of the gang that can do that. I really hope you're right about being a WC caliber team. We sure haven't looked like one the past ten games or so.

I once alluded to my formative years to, I believe it was Ted (700 Hitter). When I lived my first 14 years in Queens, my dad wanted me to become a baseball fan but he sometimes regretted what he has created. When the old Dodgers would lose a game, I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I didn't want to go outside and play stickball. I didn't want to do anything. OK, I was young and I had an excuse. Now in my 70's I'm even more of a fanatic for my new team than I was for my old one. Maybe one of these days before I am called home I will be able to roll with the punches as you guys do. I would have loved to have been able to have done that this past week. Back to you my friend.

I have no idea what I voted either, if I voted now I doubt I'd pick the same one.

Well, I could always start a new one: 'What kind of fan are you now?' :D

Toward the end of his Yankee tenure, Joe Torre said that he took the losses harder than when he was younger.
