Ok ladies and gents, time to roll out your extremely unlikely to happen predictions for the Divisions for 2013 for everyone's entertainment and opportunity to ridicule :D Do as you please, just divisions, add win projections, playoff teams, what ever melts your butter.

Well for the first time in a long time I don't feel there are any clear favorites. Every team has some issue or another or if your a Yankee fan you have a laundry list at the moment(sorry jacko, meh, others of the Yankee ilk).

So without further blabbing here are my predictions surely to make me look incredibly smart or incredibly stupid...

AL East

1. Rays*

2. Red Sox*

3. Jays

4. Yankees/O's

5. Yankees/O's

The Rays have the best SP and have some good young players that could make the offense solid. I think the Red Sox have a good atmosphere around camp and that will set a positive tone for the season. The Jays brought in a lot of talent, but a lot of baggage came with that talent. I'm guessing it's doesn't gel this season. I see the O's taking a major step back, they added nothing and let's be honest, that one run W-L record is coming back to earth. The Yankees have issues all over and I feel(not a Yankee hate prediction) that they will have a similar down season as the Sox did last year(less the drama). Which will lead to them revamping the team next off season and they will be right back in it next year. But this season they are battling the O's for the basement.

AL Central

1. Detroit*

2. Guardians

3. Royals

4. White Sox

5. Twins

AL West

1. Angels*

2. Athletics*

3. Rangers

4. Mariners

5. Astros

NL East

1. Nats*

2. Braves*

3. Phillies

4. Mets

5. Marlins

NL Central

1. Reds*

2. Pirates

3. Cardinals

4. Brewers

5. Cubs

NL West

1. Giants*

2. Dodgers*

3. Diamondbacks

4.Padres

5. Rockies

Good luck to you all, some of us will need it

edit: I changed a couple of mine, I had a couple teams reversed from what I intended

Here we go! I'm just pumped that we're close enough to the season to roll this thread out.

AL East:

Blue Jays: 91-71

Red Sox: 89-73 (WC #1)

Rays: 86-76

Yankees: 84-78 - Just because Grandy and Tex are coming back in May doesn't mean they'll perform to their norms in May. Wrists and forearms zap power.

Orioles: 79-83

AL Central:

Tigers: 94-68

Royals: 88-74 (WC Slot #2)

ChiSox: 84-78

Guardians: 81-81

Twins: 70-92

AL West:

Angels: 96-66

A's: 86-76

Rangers: 85-77

Giants: 91-71 (WC Slot #2)

DBacks: 83-79

My bold pick of the year is obviously the Royals. I am very intrigued by them this year.

If Ortiz is unable to play more than 50 games and without a left handed power hitter in the lineup, the Sox aren't likely to break out of 5th place.

I think the Red Sox could potentially do as well as 2nd in the ALEast, but there is a lot of "If's" surrounding that.

I agree. With the injuries and off season inactivity with the Yankees and the Rays' questions (Loney at first), there are problems at the top. I believe the Orioles have too many question marks and are my choice to finish last. The Jays were a bad team last year and have added players that lead their teams last year to low finishes in the N.L. Plus, Reyes and Johnson have had histories of injuries.

This team could possibly emerge as a decent team. I do believe we will have to wait a year or three for the youth to merge with the veteran core to see a real World Series contender.

Hey, I am 60 years-old and have become used to waiting. :D

Sox, Yanks, Os, Jays, Rays... but all within 7.5 games. Lots of close races around the league this year with the exception of the Angels who run away, but Tex will be right in the WC hunt.

You predicted the Pirates to finish above .500. That hasn't happened since 1993.

They also went from 57 to 72 to 79 wins over the past 3 seasons. A 3 game bump is pretty reasonable

So it's 8.22.13. We have a night off. And the September drama looks to be as good as ever.

So, I thought it'd be cool to update your predictions today for the division winners, and see how things turn out.

As usual I'm glad I didn't make any predictions because they would have been so wrong. It's impossible. Just a big waste of time.

So I'll go ahead and get this thing started:

AL East: Red Sox

AL Central: Tigers

AL West: Oakland

AL WC #1: Tampa

AL WC #2: Cleveland

NL East: Braves

NL West: Dodgers

NL WC #1: Cardinals

NL WC #2: Reds

really no suspense in the NL and very little in the AL

For anybody picking the Red Sox to win the East, here's a question: what's the most you would bet on it, in a straight-up bet?

I'd put 100 on it, only because the Rays, starting tomorrow, play 37 games in 38 days, including a 10 game west coast trip, a 1 day trip to KC, and 20 of those games are away.

That's a lot of traveling and a lot of baseball with 1 day off.

LOL! For perspective, did you look in your wallet before you typed this and what percentage of your wallet money is the $8?

I originally counted $6, but I added up the change my pockets and it came to $8.

Hopefully Gizmo can wait about a week for the money I owe him.

$50 to win the East

$100 to make the playoffs either way

I think that the team has muddled along in August has given fans a false sense of dread - they have not actually moved much in the standings.
