You called me out for the fact that the Yankees went 5 games with a team that won 90+ games and knocked out the two time defending AL champ? And you're knocking us cause we beat them? That's f***ing retarded. The Yankees got swept by the tigers, no debate there. To say they were "raped" is completely idiotic as well. The first 3 games were very tight, one going 13 innings, another scoreless into the 7th, the third a 1 run loss. The only game truly out of reach was game 4. You're making a fool of yourself here

No f***tard, I'm knocking you to stop praising the Yankees like they're the s*** because they made the ALCS. Example1 made a comment about the Yankees being a failed team when you wanted to bring back the same players and you reply with we made it to the ALCS when you should have never been there in the first place. Look, you won't have my sympathy on this site from me. Go shake your pom poms at YANKEES FORUM and stop being a little bitch.

The Yankees had a .488 OPS for the series, had to come from behind to force extras in game one, and held precisely zero leads. f***'s sake, they barely tied one of the games up. Your argument is an absolute house of cards.

Exactly, you made the ALCS big deal. They sucked it up big time and that's all I'm really trying to say.

The Yankees have made the playoffs every goddam year since 1995, except one. There's gotta be something in that. I hate them too, but I respect that record. And the playoffs, generally speaking, are a crapshoot. The Giants almost got knocked out by both Cincy and St. Louis. They were down 3-1 to St. Louis, with Game 5 on the road, and their hopes pinned on Barry Zito LOL

It's impressive no doubt, but that's not what we're arguing. I'm saying the Yankees didn't deserve to be in the ALCS the way they played and was basically handed to them by the O's. I'm not saying the playoffs aren't a crapshot but at least the Giants had to fight their way back and earn a spot. It's not even that bog of a deal, had I said this about any other team it wouldn't be a problem. Yankees fans want to go ahead and cry about everything on this site, like us, red sox care cause we really don't.

Jacko's just trying to split hairs and establish how great the Yankees are. However, I'm mostly just messing with him because he's being a gaping arsehole right now.

He's a Yankee fan. They are always arseholes.

Sports fans are arseholes to each other because it's such a casual and open subject. Sports banter can get as intense as any political discussion, but people don't avoid talking about it the way they do politics. Jacko knows he's going to get s*** here, he's been getting s*** over here for almost a decade now. You almost have to hand it to the guy for hangin' in there for so long... Almost; it's much more entertaining to just give him endless s***.

The Pirates appear to be making a serious attempt to sign free agent catcher Russell Martin, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. Though the Rangers and Mariners are also suitors for Martin, he will likely choose between the Yankees and Pirates. The decision could occur before next week’s Winter Meetings, as Martin is expected to choose within several days.

What's the fall back if Russell goes all Jack Sparrow?

Jacko, I'm interested in your opinion on this. Do the Yankees have a contingency plan in place if Martin bolts?

Judging by the rest of their offseason moves, I would expect Jorge Posada to come out of retirement soon.
Maybe they will be interested in a tall adequate catcher.

Bring back Jorge to catch, and for the open OF spot they can bring Bernie Williams back (He hasn't officially retired yet).

Looks like the Pirates have gone to 3 years on their offer, in the 22M range. Martin likes the Pirates. I didn't think he's leave NY unless someone went hard after him. And it seems like the Pirates have a full court press on.

Martin going to the Pirates. My guess is they will go with AJ Pierzynski with Romine as his platoon mate. 2 yrs at $17 mil is a pretty good get for Martin, surprised the Yanks didnt at least match that
Posted
It's reported that didn't have the money to match the offer. Looks like the Yanks may be handcuffed finically like the Red Sox last season? That's a weird thought
Posted
That was their excuse, not mine lol

I cannot believe they actually said that, lol. My guess is they saw that they have a kid who can replace Martin defensively in the minors right now and are willing to live with his shortcomings offensively since Martin was no huge producer

I know, those words coming out of their mouths didn't make sense lol So is Romine(sp?) ready to take over full time or did you mean Cervalli? I read they aren't interested in AJ or Napoli.

Cause the guy throws half his throws into centerfield, lol. He seemed to rectify that in the minors, and I think he can handle it, but I think Romine is more suited to the starting role.
