Yankees are "confident" they can re-sign Ichiro. The same news leaked on Kuroda and he was in the fold within 48 hours. The Yankees are also starting negotations with Martin.

Yippee! Bring back all the members of the failed 2012 team as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't call them a failed team. More of a flawed team. A team that's was built around offense to with stand the every day rigors of playing in the AL East. That just happened to go cold against a very deep Detroit rotation. The Yankees biggest flaw was the lack of impact SP behind CC and Kuroda. They would have needed the first 2 to win every time out and not have a bad outing to have a shot at the WS title. It wasn't impossible but it wasn't a likely outcome either.

IMO Detroit would have had the edge in the series even if the wheels hadn't fallen off for the Yankees because of their depth at SP.

The Yankees announced that they avoided arbitration with catcher Eli Whiteside, agreeing to a one-year contract for 2013.

Anyone of note Jacko?

That couldnt be further from the truth. Pettitte and Hughes were great in the POs, we just couldnt hit

You mean the team that played in the ALCS, right?

Yep, that team that absolutely sucked in the ALCS and looked like they didn't belong there. A year older, a year more expensive. That's who I'm talking about. They just weren't that good.

Andy Pettitte is close to formally announcing he's going to pitch again in 2013, ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports (on Twitter). Furthermore, the free agent left-hander is close to finishing a new contract with the Yankees.

Wonder if it's the whole season or from like June-July on? Could they even rely on him for a whole season?

C'mon guys, you know damn well that wearing pinstripes prevents 99% of all injiries. Just ask Jacko, he's a doctor.

All I'm saying is the Yankees didn't belong in the ALCS

So if the Yankees didn't belong in the ALCS I guess the Tigers didn't belong in the WS eh?

Debating whether the Yankees were any good when they won the most games in the AL while being in a division with 3 of the top 6 teams in the AL is no small feat. They just died in the playoffs, so be it. How any Red Sox fan could conceivably consider the Yankees as not belonging is just absurd since their team effectively died and gave up on their way to 93 losses.

The first point was that they are a failed team. What was the Yankees goal, and did they meet that goal?

I'll answer for you: World Series and no, they got wrecked. They failed.

The Red Sox are irrelevant to the subject as to whether or not the Yankees belonged in the ALCS, and the actual statement in question was that they didn't look like they beloged. Being that they made it, they obviously belong in the ALCS, but they got s*** on by the Tigers.

Hey asshat, that's completely irrelevant. Jacko is praising the Yankees for the ALCS that they were handed to by the O's. I call him out on it and he replies about the Red Sox. See the Tigers in order to get to the WS: raped, destroyed, obliterated, whatever you want to say to the Yankees. Stop getting butthurt and accept it punk.

Enough said, thank you.

I never said they were a bad team, I just said they barely made it to the ALCS which is true.

We're Yankees! We wipe our asses with gold-crusted hundred-dollar bills and we don't belong in the ALCS?! ASDFGHJKL

You called me out for the fact that the Yankees went 5 games with a team that won 90+ games and knocked out the two time defending AL champ? And you're knocking us cause we beat them? That's f***ing retarded. The Yankees got swept by the tigers, no debate there. To say they were "raped" is completely idiotic as well. The first 3 games were very tight, one going 13 innings, another scoreless into the 7th, the third a 1 run loss. The only game truly out of reach was game 4. You're making a fool of yourself here

It's an asinine comment. Guess what, the Giants barely made it to the NLCS and the World Series. It means nothing.

Yeah, but they didn't get wrecked.

The Tigers were in control for every game, get real. The Yankees got s*** on by the Tigers. No really, there was never a point in any game where I thought the Yankees might have a chance to win, because they looked pathetic offensively.

Posted
The tigers were "in control" in game 1, when it took 4 extra frames to finish the game? They were "in control" of game 2 while not scoring through the first 6 innings? They were "in control" of game 3 up 1 with the tying and winning runs on base for the Yankees hottest playoff performer? You're being a moron

The Yankees had a .488 OPS for the series, had to come from behind to force extras in game one, and held precisely zero leads. f***'s sake, they barely tied one of the games up. Your argument is an absolute house of cards.

The Yankees have made the playoffs every goddam year since 1995, except one. There's gotta be something in that. I hate them too, but I respect that record. And the playoffs, generally speaking, are a crapshoot. The Giants almost got knocked out by both Cincy and St. Louis. They were down 3-1 to St. Louis, with Game 5 on the road, and their hopes pinned on Barry Zito LOL

Shut the f*** up, you idiot. The Giants actually played hard enough to comeback and win the series. Their team didn't have a massive slump like the Yankees did barely making it through. It's not asinine, the Yankees showed one of the worst postseason performances I've ever seen.
