The Red Sox still have a 9 game west coast trip in September' date=' this series is important to take beginning tomorrow night.[/quote']

After this loss we will need to win both of the remaining games in Oakland. We are still on the precipice of dropping out of the race.

This site has been off and on all night long.

Pedroia gets jammed up and in and still hits the ball 370 feet to CF.

Thats some serious bat speed.

Did you actually think Aviles would continue his early season success?

Jung, players dont turn into above average players overnight. Law of averages.

.......at this point, the only stat that looks decent is his RBI's, which is a irrevelent stat to an individuals skill set.

Jose Bautista?

Geez I swear ta' God I hate to sound so damned negative and I mean no disrespect to anybody but WAKE UP!

There is no more time left for "Oh we are usually bad in the first game of a series but USUALLY make up for it later". We used up all that rope in April and May and June...no rope left.

Go look at the June records (June was the month I pointed to as my personal line of demarkation for this team) and look at what the opponents and the Sox are facing in July. I posted it within the last ten or so posts in last night's game thread if you don't want to look the info up yourself.

Go look at that s*** and tell me if there is any time left for this Oh we tend to lose the first game of a series horse s***.

You are bipolar.

Love, Hate, Love, Hate.

Have an opinion and stick to it. IMO they were never in it, and wont be. I hope I am wrong.

They should be winning all of these games.

They missed the playoffs by 1 game last year. Pissing away games to terrible teams will cost them.

How many times over the last few years that drum been beat? They never beaten these Royals, Atheltics, Mariners, Orioles as they supposed to.

Still several innings to go. Anything can happen I suppose.

This year's team has been awful in the opening games of series and, more times than not, has been able to recover from dropping the 1st game of the series.

For all practical purposes, the Moss HR ended this game. The A's pitching staff is too good for us to expect five runs in four innings. Parker's ERA is under 3.

Here is a prediction: if DiceK stays in the rotation past the trade deadline we will not win the ALE. Therefore, if we make the playoffs at all, it will be for a single game and then we will be eliminated. The sooner he is DFA'd the better chance we have for the ALE, our only real chance at a ring this year, slim as it is now.

No I did not and what you posted is precisely why I suggested early on that a defensive liability like Mike Aviles at SS was a mistake.

If you want to you can just search my user name and you will see post after post about the failed logic of sticking defensive liabilities in the most important defensive positions on the field because you think they are going to hit that GD Green Monster.

Jose Bautista?

So you think that Aviles has the skill set to be a diamond in the rough?

It rarely, if ever happens.

Bautista at least put up decent numbers in the minors and displayed decent OB skills before he started taking steroids that haven't yet been marked.

I thought I was pretty clear about my opinion on yesterday's game thread. Here it is, for what its worth: given the number of remaining games, I think we still have a chance to overtake the Yankees, though its slim. If we get further behind by (pick your number of games-I chose 9 right now and as more games are played I will reduce that number) then its time to throw in the towel for this year and clean house.

I swear...614 posts from this guy...... Not a single one of them ever had anything positive to say:dunno:

So skip by them. Some posters have thousands of posts praising the play of this team and criticizing only the POSTERS who point out that this empire has been on the downslide since the end of 2007, and no one says boo to them.

Which is why they have missed the playoffs and finished in third place.

No, I actually do like Aviles though, on a winning team there would be a chance he would step it up. As far as Bautista I was joking around.

No... I've got no problem when someone rants or what have you.... This guy seriously gets on here and posts " f*** Beckett, trade him" "aviles sucks" " dfa ( insert name here ) "..... Never anything intelligent, or more than 3-4 words.... I mean, if your gonna be a sour-puss... Atleast be intelligent and put some effort into like pumpsie:thumbsup:

I am thinking third place again.

Either way, the DiceK era will be over by the end of this season. Even as a 5th starter, his ending line tonight cannot cut it - especially against this Oakland A's team.

Believe it or not....I actually like Aviles but not as a full time SS. Mike Aviles is a full time utility infielder...you move him around as you need him. We have like one step down from what we should have. We have a utility infielder playing the most important defensive position on the field every day and then we have mister nothing Punto as our utility infielder.

It doesn't come easy. Its like McCoy telling Kirk that someone is dead. DeForest Kelly (McCoy) said in an interview that it became increasingly difficult to tell Shatner in different ways that someone was dead.

Seriously, if you don't like the way someone posts, use the ignore button.

I think they could finish in second place. They definitely have the ability to make the playoffs.

Could and should are not reality though. I think that the issues behind the scenes will constantly haunt this team until they cut the fat.

Its not about talent, they have a ton of it. IMO its about Beckett. Beckett could win 20 games if he got his s*** together.....instead, he will do something that will cost this team the playoffs.
