Couple things:

 

1. Middlebrooks has a slightly injured thumb, which is why Iglesias is up today instead of Middlebrooks. But, having said that, Middlebrooks is in the lineup for the Pawsox tonight, so I'm not quite sure why he's able to play for the PawSox but not for the Red Sox. Maybe they want him at full strength before he makes that jump from AAA to MLB, which is understandable.

 

2. If we're just going to dick away an out every 9th hitter by using Punto at 3B, why the hell don't we get some good defense out of it, put Aviles at 3rd and Iglesias at SS?? That makes zero sense to me other than just not wanting to throw off Aviles at all.

Wow,,, The Sox have optioned Tazawa back to Pawtucket and have brought up...........Iggy because of the Youk back issue.

I am not shocked it is Iggy. WMB is injured AND they dont want to start his clock in May. My guess is you will see Iggy at SS and Aviles at 3B for the time being

I hope it's Aviles at 3rd and Iggy at SS tonight. I have wanted to see Aviles at 3rd to see how does over there. Iggy at SS would be a treat as well. Could be a fun game!
